Historia
Aliens exist...and, as it turns out, most of them aren’t that friendly. Jacob Brown wasn’t even born yet the first time they attacked Earth. He was only 14 the second time it happened. When Earth finally came together and fielded its first spaceborne military, Jacob didn’t hesitate to volunteer. Serving aboard a mighty starship, he’d be able to defend his planet - and his family - when, inevitably, they came again.

Like father, like son well almost. Still good
Revisado: 05-20-20
Jacob Brown is the son of Jason Burke. Captain Jason Burke, of Omega Force, Saved Earth not once but twice but is still politically inconvenient. No point in paraphrasing the 11 Omega Force adventures. In book 6 Secret of the Phoenix, Jason is drawn back to Earth. Deetz, the crazy dangerously unstable amoral synthetic being who is intent on reacquiring the Phoenix a tidy little interstellar Gun ship ( yep it has a secret) Drawn back to defend Earth, Deetz focuses national attention on Loren, the girl he left behind. So it's welcome aboard for an adventure of a life time and brief tour of the greater universe! When the dust settles it's back to Colorado for Loren, the universe is a dangerous place. Jacob is the enduring reminder of those events. Jacob has benefited from genetic enhancements Jason received along the way. Serendipity, luck or simple circumstance brought Jacob to Earth service and ultimately the Terran Marines. So being all he can be, in Earth's scout service. Jacob begins an opposite but parallel path through the events involving Jason and the Universe at large.
So like Omega Force it filled with action, memorable characters. Wonderfully writing truly enjoyable. Definitely not a cookie cutter but it parallels the events in Omega Force. Recommended without hesitation.

Revisado: 12-16-18
R Lawson Gamble has created an interesting group of characters and imaginative take on native myths, overall an interesting premise. Unfortunately flawed by The narrator Thomas Block. Sentences, paragraphs don't flow naturally and poor differentiation of characters, confusing. The quality of the written story is five star.

Historia
In Naked Prey, John Sandford puts Lucas Davenport through some changes. His old boss, Rose Marie Roux, has moved up to the state level and taken Lucas with her. In addition, Lucas is now married and a new father, both of which are fine with him: He doesn't mind being a family man. But he is a little worried. For every bit of peace you get, you have to pay - and he's waiting for the bill. It comes in the form of two people found hanging from a tree in the woods of northern Minnesota. What makes it particularly sensitive is that the bodies are of a black man and a white woman, and they're naked....

Lucas, Weather, Sam nòw Letty
Revisado: 06-26-17
If you could sum up Naked Prey in three words, what would they be?
"Not a lynching" and it isn't, she white, he's black they're both hung by the neck. Left hanging there in the woods on a cold winter night. Race has nothing to do with it they're both bad, bad people.
What did you like best about this story?
Letty, how can you not! 13 going on 30, a crappy 22 a bunch of traps and there's no stopping her.
What does Richard Ferrone bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
He's been the voice of Lucas so long it seems natural.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
It's been so long since I read the original I'm sure that colored the audio book
Any additional comments?
One of the best Davenport novels of the bunch.

Dwarves, course, insular, combative or are they
Revisado: 01-30-17
Where does The Dwarves rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
Oddly this book rates pretty high. Dwarves or traditional dwarves for the most part are course, unimaginative and stolid. Tandill ( around who this tale revolves ) isn't any of these things, he's warm, multidimensional and dare I say sensitive. The world view in this story is slightly skewed from what I think of as the norm. Nicely written and believable. Ok dwarves aren't really real but they could have been.
What was one of the most memorable moments of The Dwarves?
Tandill teaching the little girl how to make nails at the forge, give you an idea of the character of Tandill.
Which character – as performed by Matthew Wolf – was your favorite?
Tandill of course not that he doesn't do a very good job with each and every character. Dwarves, Elves dark elves, evil sorcerers the lot.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
Chuckles here and there.
Any additional comments?
While I've met some dwarves I have liked, but this has altered my opinions of dwarves.

Like quirky modern detectives? Oh did I mention
Revisado: 01-29-17
Would you listen to Witness Chase again? Why?
Considering I read the books possibly. I'm not sure why I liked these so much . Possibly because the characters are both subtly, sharply cliche. It is clearer in the books, but that veiled humor runs through the storys. Yes there's murder and mayhem but it doesn't feel horrifying or the main point of the story.
What other book might you compare Witness Chase to and why?
Witness list, ok that was am attempt at humor as there the early title for this book. This somehow don't really remind me of other stories. There's an insider feel although irreverently done.
What does David H. Lawrence XVII bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
I was surprised at how well he portrayed the characters especially Tiffinger. How well he captures the original tone and feel of the books. But than he's an XVII, perfect for these stories.
If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?
Sorry I just don't see a film of this in the future. The versatile leading men from the 40's are all gone. O'brian or Powell could have done it, no not Dick ( Richard Diamond) but the Thinman with coffee instead of a drink. But that missed too.
Any additional comments?
I found these ( this series) to be engaging light reading and well crafted.

Enjoyed the print version, this I didn't
Revisado: 01-24-17
This book wasn’t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?
If you missed 1-10 this may work better for you. I was completely entertained by the print version 84 + stories. They're short, entertaining light reading. 1-10 translated better to audio. But it was a different narrator
If you’ve listened to books by Bill Bernico before, how does this one compare?
Cooper 1-10 was a better listening experience. In all honesty I enjoy Bill Bernico's writting having read a great number of his tales.
How did the narrator detract from the book?
Yes he did. It's not that he's a bad narrator he is simply, in my opinion, not a good fit for these stories. It may just be me but I found his slower reading tempo just didn't fit well. In reading the print version I found the ability to change tempo and pace made a difference in readability and enjoyment. Some stories have more detail others not as much after all there are lots of stories written over a period of time.
What character would you cut from The Cooper Saga 02?
There aren't any disposable characters, there all there for a reason.
Any additional comments?
Bill Bernico is a comptent and enjoyable author this shouldn't be taken as a comdemnation of his skills as an author, it's a simple mismatch.

P.I. Noir, well kinda
Revisado: 12-16-16
What did you love best about The Cooper Saga 01?
I actually read the print version(s) first. I enjoyed each one, through each iteration and rename. Engaging characters simple formula spanning years. The narrator does a pretty good job capturing the flavor of the books.
What other book might you compare The Cooper Saga 01 to and why?
The early Ed Noon P.I. stories by Michael Avallone. They both have the same feel, sort of a 70's take on the 30's and 40's.
Have you listened to any of Tom Fuller’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
No I haven't, but he does a good job.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
I was struck with what a difference there can be between reading and listening to a series. While I enjoyed both I did prefer reading the stories. Mostly due to the ability to change the tempo and timing of the tales.
Any additional comments?
Ok this may be nit picking but the renaming conventions are an issue for me. I purchased read and reviewed the kindle versions under earlier naming conventions so have multiples of the same stories, hopefully multiples won't issue with the audio editions.

Even the united remnants of Toronto's defeated underworld could not resist the city's new masked protectors. But when they join with the murderous might of some of the masked marvels' deadliest foes, can even the Red Panda match the strength of...The Crime Cabal? The characters from Decoder Ring Theatre's long-running full-cast audio drama series The Red Panda Adventures here make the leap into two-fisted pulp-style prose in spectacular style. Read by the author, Tales of the Red Panda: The Crime Cabal is a perfect introduction for new follwers of the masked protectors of Depression-era Toronto.

The Red Panda, Canada's greatest super Hero
Revisado: 12-15-16
Would you listen to Tales of the Red Panda: The Crime Cabal again? Why?
Yes, it's is a short undemanding story but with enough going on to keep you engaged
What other book might you compare Tales of the Red Panda: The Crime Cabal to and why?
The first comparison is always the Decoder Ring Theatre Red Panda podcasts. While this was nicely done. I do miss the full cast radio drama feel of the original podcasts. Greg is spectacularly talented and does a wonderful job on all characters but he did far to good a job performing and casting the original for it to be comparable. It's close but who wouldn't miss the addition of the Flying Squirrel?
Which scene was your favorite?
The scene at club Macaw ( a gentleman's club)
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
No not really, it's written in the format of the old light radio dramas from the 40's and 50's but with more of a print comic book feel to it.
Any additional comments?
How does he do it? I'm sure he dresses in a classic suit, places a fedora on his head, fingers the crimson mask in his pocket. Just as the tendrils of the cold gray Canadian dawn transports him back to another time. A time when a well dressed man, a few gadgets, a fast car and a strong moral compass could make a difference.

Seventeen-year-old spirit medium Emily Chambers has a problem. Actually, she has several. As if seeing dead people isn't a big enough social disadvantage, she also has to contend with an escaped demon and a handsome ghost with a secret past. And then there's the question of her parentage. Being born an entire year after her father's death (yes, a year) and without the pale skin of other respectable English ladies, Emily is as much a mystery as the dead boy assigned to her.

A period piece, without period characters
Revisado: 12-15-16
Where does The Medium rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
It was enjoyable and an easy listen and probably one I'll listen to again as it's undemanding but engaging. I'd place it in the 70 percent category
What other book might you compare The Medium to and why?
Study in silk? Maybe but not really. Emily is engaging but a less demanding character but both have that period feel, of an age that was captivated with ghostly spirituality as a psuedo science.
What does Gemma Dawson bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
I think she hit the characters very well
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
Nope, not really just wasn't that kind of book
