Historia
Zo Grey is reeling from the sudden death of her mother when she receives a surprising call from an attorney in Divinity, Louisiana, with the news she has been left an inheritance by a distant relative, the terms of which he will only discuss in person. Destitute and alone, with nothing left to lose, Zo heads to Divinity and discovers she is the sole beneficiary of a huge fortune and a monstrosity of a house that sits ominously at the peak of Watch Hill—but she must live in it, alone, for three years before the house, or the money, is hers.

New Orleans hotel
Revisado: 02-20-25
I hope the author will call the hotel in New Orleans where the main character stays for a short period of time and learns the correct pronunciation of the hotel’s name. Whenever it’s spoken of in the book it just grates on my nerves. And yes I’m from that area of Louisiana. I’m sure that other listeners of the book doesn’t even realize the glaring error of mispronunciation. Other than that one glaring mispronunciation of the hotel’s name the book is very good.

Wonderful book.
Revisado: 10-15-23
One of if not the best book in the series.
Unique story line and one that brings in the listener as though you are there experiencing everything the main character is experiencing day by day of the character’s life.

New York Times best-selling author James Lee Burke's Dave Robicheaux novels began with this first hard-hitting entry in the series. In The Neon Rain, Detective Robicheaux fishes a prostitute's corpse from a New Orleans bayou and finds that no one, not even the law, cares about a dead hooker.

Review from a real Cajun.
Revisado: 03-10-23
I was born and reared right outside of New Orleans.
I’ve lived all my life in south Louisiana.
What ticks me off more than anything are readers who do not care enough to learn how Cajuns really speak and pronounce certain words.
Please if a reader cannot do this then don’t even attempt a Cajun accent!!
My name is Ms Hebert. Pronounced “Abear.”

Brining in a male narrator for last book ruined it
Revisado: 01-07-18
What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?
Keeping the same narrator for all 3 books!!
Would you recommend For 100 Reasons to your friends? Why or why not?
I just cannot due to the change of adding a male narrator. For me it was as though I was listening to 2 different books. The male narrator's female voice was just too different for me to enjoy this book.
How did the narrator detract from the book?
Just way too different from the original narrator!!
If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from For 100 Reasons?
None!
Any additional comments?
I'm seriously thinking of returning the audio, and should they ever release it again with the original narrator I would buy it.

What's all the fuss about and high ratings?
Revisado: 08-29-13
This book wasn’t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?
My personal belief is the book is way too long, story line since beginning of series has bogged down with the last 3 books. As far as the sex, way too much description of each and every act by the consenting partners no matter if is male with male or male with female. Give me a break, this is a adult series and as such we don't have to read about each and every movement or breath a human body makes during intimate relationships, please enough is enough. The narrator is wonderful hope he is never replaced. Will give the next book in the series a try, but should it follow along the same footsteps as this book it will be the end of the line for me with this series.
What could J. R. Ward have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?
Way less sex, fewer story lines and more development of the story which deals with the many problems the brothers are facing that threatens their race.
Have you listened to any of Jim Frangione’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
Yes. Never disappointed by his performance.
If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from Lover at Last?
Too many to list.

Historia
Jonas Quarrel was lean, sexy, and equally capable of quoting Renaissance poetry or wielding a dagger. Verity Ames knew Jonas was the perfect partner for an affair - and that he was not the marrying kind. Before long he would be looking for new excitement, leaving Verity behind to run her gourmet restaurant in a California resort, hold on to misty colored memories, and wonder what she was going to do if she were pregnant with his child.

I only made it to the 3rd chapter and the narrator was getting on my nerves so I stopped the story and will not return to it at all.
Would not give it even 1 star but could not due to the way the system works.

Light but entertaining.
Revisado: 10-01-10
This book is light but good listening for a raining afternoon.
Unfortunately the reader's rendition of the male voices sounded female which made any and all of the reading of the interaction between male and female hard to follow.

"Alice in Wonderland" lands in the brides story!
Revisado: 09-26-10
Terrible, I really thought that I was "Alice" and truly fell into the rabbit's hold after just one chapter.
The other books in the "Brides Series" were a light fun read, but this one should never have been written.
There are no zeros in the rating so I had no choice but to give 1 star rating.
