Historia
Recently jilted and increasingly unhinged, Dr. Voth throws himself into his work, obsessively researching the life of Jack Sheppard, a legendary 18th-century thief. No one knows Jack's true story - his confessions have never been found. That is, until Dr. Voth discovers a mysterious stack of papers titled "Confessions of the Fox". Dated 1724, the manuscript tells the story of an orphan named P. Sold into servitude at 12, P struggles for years with her desire to live as "Jack".

Pretentious in need of a good story
Revisado: 08-10-18
I rarely don’t finish a book but this was impossible to tolerate after the first few chapters. The pseudo-academic pretentiousness was tedious. The narrator was pretty awful and monotonous too with a few lame attempts at a British accent.

The religious turn to their faith to find meaning. But what about the many people who lead secular lives and are also hungry for meaning? What guides, what approaches are available to them? Distinguished philosophers Hubert Dreyfus and Sean Dorrance Kelly explain that a secular life charged with meaning is indeed within reach.

Bizarre take on the meaning of life
Revisado: 08-09-18
This is a strange one. The authors present a bizarre take on how to find meaning in life from the perspective of entitled straight white males. The communal enjoyment of passions such as hunting whales and baseball are core. Surprised that they didn’t mention car racing and bull fights. They also forgot to mention that the Homeric passions they admire only applied to a tiny section of the population rich enough to steal wives and fight duels but not worry about feeding themselves. Cartesian rationalism gave us science and medicine. Sounds like a better deal than the meaning of indulging in shared passions.

The next-to-last novel in Stephen King's seven-volume magnum opus, Song of Susannah is a fascinating key to the unfolding mystery of the Dark Tower.

increasingly disappointing
Revisado: 07-05-04
Unfortunately, the Dark Tower series is just getting worse. The story failed to go anywhere at all. Compared to the earlier parts in the series which contain complex images and clever narrative, this book is vague and rambles on with characters being developed and then mysteriously dropped from the narrative. Frankly, you can skip this one as it will not bring you any closer to the Tower...
