Not all about NDEs
Revisado: 04-10-22
Overall good book, but as mentioned in other reviews, the author heavily focuses on the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and their conversion story. It's interesting, but if you approach the book hoping for more Near-Death Experiences, you'll be disappointed.

Confusing to a newbie but ending was interesting
Revisado: 02-12-22
These authors and this book and series were totally unknown to me. The title intrigued me. Without having the actual book, keeping up with names and concepts is challenging. I think the vazirim expanse? Is some sort of pocket universe that a conjuror can place people and things indefinitely? A barjan ? Its like a force field or shield? These concepts super confused me at first. The big baddie was interesting and I appreciated how my questions about them was paid off in the end. I almost stopped listening at first because I hated the protagonist but glad I stuck thru till the end. May pick up their other books to see what it’s all about and if I can make sense of it just by listening.

This book throws light on many features of the American character. Its concern is not merely to portray the scorners of intellect in American life, but to say something about what the intellectual is, and can be, as a force in a democratic society.

It’s like trying to listen to a textbook
Revisado: 08-05-21
Learned some new concepts so wasn’t totally lost on me but it’s definitely not one to listen to on a road trip, it’s difficult to follow.

I’ve never wanted to like a series more
Revisado: 06-14-21
This series confused me, but I definitely felt like there was an undercurrent of good story and enough hooks to keep me invested. There were parts throughout the entire series I had to be like I have no clue what’s going on, and moments where I wish the author could have delved deeper into certain things. But that’s impressive for being confused often to keep me vested. The ending did give me goosebumps, so I look forward to delist ending and gaining more understanding. A bit excessively gory in some parts too IMO.
