Male Narrator Is Over thr Top

The female narrator does a great job but the male narrator is just too over the top. He takes away from the story with his over the top style. Perfect voice for narration but just calm down the intensity. The story seemed ok and enhanced by narration but I just couldn’t overcome the male narrator’s intensity and couldn’t finish the book - I returned it for a refund.

What didn’t you like about Michael Ferraiuolo and Laura Jennings ’s performance?

Michael is not the leading male role type. His voice is too effeminate to read a lead male role. His voice does not match the male character(s) in this book. I tried to listen to it but returned it because I could only tolerate one chapter. I’ll read the book instead.

What three words best describe Carly Robins and Aiden Snow ’s performance?

Carly rates 5 stars as usual. Aiden Snow needs to narrate a different genre altogether. He doesn’t have the voice of a leading male character. I cannot listen to his books. I purchased this book because the synopsis sounded good but forgot to check the narrator first.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

I immediately returned it because of the male narrator. I’ll read the book instead of listening.

What did you like best about Closer? What did you like least?

The narrator sounds just like a robot - I couldn't even make it out of the first chapter. I tried changing the speed but it didn't help. Very disappointing because I couldn't stand to listen long enough to be able to give a true rating of the story line.

Refund because of narration

If you could sum up Worth It All in three words, what would they be?

Do not buy. So disappointed in the narration of this book. I loved the first two books in the series and the narration for them but asked for a refund for Book 3 because of the narrator. No fluctuation in her voice at all and no distinction between characters, not even a little bit. Hard to keep up with the story because there is no distinction between adult women, men and children's characters. A good narrator makes a huge difference in the book itself. Possibly would've rated the book itself higher but couldn't finish it with this narrator.

Would you be willing to try another one of Vanessa Daniels’s performances?

What would have made Between the Tackles better?

Poorly written and poorly narrated. The story is not developed at all and extremely amateurish at best. The narrator just shouldn't narrate books without a lot more practice and direction. Out of the hundreds and hundreds of books I've read and listened to I've only ever returned 3 - this being number 3. That should tell you something about how poor it is overall.

Would you ever listen to anything by Roxy Sinclaire again?

Only with a lot of improvement but probably not.

How did the narrator detract from the book?

Tone of voice, not enough differentiation between characters, read through pauses and periods, voice is unappealing.

What character would you cut from Between the Tackles?

Didn't get far enough into it to decide about cutting anyone.

I have no idea how this book has earned a 4.5 star rating but it's not even close to that.

Horrible Narration...

What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?

The only way this would have been a 4 or 5 star listening experience for me is if it had a different reader that knows what they are doing both with voice and the recording itself, and to have someone edit the story line that has the potential to be much better than it is.

What do you think your next listen will be?

I like romances so I'll keep listening to them.

How could the performance have been better?

The only way it could've been better is if it were a different person. If Lynnae Stanwick is going to continue to narrate anything she needs to hire a coach who will give her an honest review and teach her how to use her voice correctly throughout the narration. Also, she needs lessons in how to use her recording equipment because she cuts out some words, has long pauses in other places and goes from a level that you can't hear to one that busts your eardrums. Her voice fluctuation and vocal expressions happen at all the wrong times and don't make sense with the scenes. Obviously, she can read and has potential but just needs some coaching and directing by someone with some experience.

If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from Touchdown?

The continual references to the difference in their wealth, the drinking until blacking out scenes without addressing it properly as related to safety and getting help.

Any additional comments?

I would think an author with 12 books under their belt would produce a more refined product. This story line is good and has potential especially since it's a sports related theme but it still needs a lot of work. In the future, a better narrator would definitely help.

Don't waste your money

This book wasn’t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?

Inexperienced readers only. This character from the streets uses terms that would be way out of her vocabulary. Also, the author includes all of the over used/cliche/required Romance genre terms, i.e. heady, like a poor girl from the slums who is beaten by her bad boyfriend is going to use those kinds of terms to describe her "relationship" or attraction to a man.

What could Simone Carter have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?

Don't make it so predictable. She obviously has talent because she wrote an entire book but I think anyone can do better than this.

Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Lissa Blackwell?

Someone who would read it with more fluctuation, a little slower, a little more differentiation between the male and female characters. Take your time, readers can always increase their narration speed if it's too slow for them. Slowing down will allow more character and fluctuation in her voice.

What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?

I only got a few chapters into it before I had had enough. I was angry because I wasted money and time on such a poorly written book. The book made me angry because it was so poorly written, not because of the content.

Loved the story but disappointed with narrator

What did you love best about Confessions of a Litigation God: A Legal Affairs Full Length Erotic Novel?

I love the sex scenes of course! Very hot!!

What did you like best about this story?

I liked how Matt finally realized (although it took him forever) that he was truly in love with Mac and finally let go of his hangups about his past hurts and moved on. I also like how even though they work together in the end, she held her own about starting her own business.

How did the narrator detract from the book?

The voice didn't fit the character. He's a cocky lawyer who's supposed to be this dominant character and the voice just doesn't fit. It should be a deeper, more confident voice to fit the character. The narrator was a good reader and had a good rhythm but would fit other characters better but not one like this.

Have you listened to any of Natalie Ross’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

I have listened to several of her narrations and Natalie Ross is my favorite female narrator. I love her voice and the way she changes it for the various characters. I hope to listen to more of her performances in the future.
