Historia
Jill and Derick knew a normal life wasn’t possible for them. As a star on the popular TLC reality show 19 Kids and Counting, Jill grew up in front of viewers who were fascinated by her family’s way of life. She was the responsible, second daughter of Jim Bob and Michelle’s nineteen kids; always with a baby on her hip and happy to wear the modest ankle-length dresses with throat-high necklines.

Grace & Truth
Revisado: 12-14-23
Jill so eloquently tells of the beauty and pain of her upbringing. Though she is honest about some of the faults of her parents, she speaks of them respectfully and with appreciation for the good they also gave her. You can tell she truly longs for reconciliation to happen. I have so much respect for her after reading this book and am grateful that she shared her story with us. So proud of you Jill. You truly told your story with both grace and truth.

Jinger, along with three of her sisters, wrote a New York Times bestseller about their religious convictions. She believed this level of commitment would guarantee God's blessing, even though in private she felt constant fear that she wasn't measuring up to the high standards demanded of her.

Helpful for Ex-IBLP
Revisado: 07-10-23
This book will be very helpful for anyone who is working to disentangle their faith specifically from Gothard/IBLP teachings. For everyone else, the story is interesting but it can be a bit hard to relate to. The author was raised in such a sheltered and insulated environment, the teachings can feel a little naive to anyone who was raised outside that bubble in a Bible preaching church. The book did feel repetitive in spots and the narration wasn’t always smooth. Overall, an interesting story, and I’m thankful Jinger didn’t let her negative experiences with a “spiritual leader” turn her away from Jesus.

Historia
Based on a groundbreaking in-depth survey of 22,000 Christian women, The Great Sex Rescue unlocks the secrets to what makes some marriages red hot while others fizzle out. Generations of women have grown up with messages about sex that make them feel dirty, used, or invisible, while men have been sold such a cheapened version of sex, they don't know what they're missing. The Great Sex Rescue hopes to turn all of that around, developing a truly biblical view of sex where mutuality, intimacy, and passion reign.

Important Message
Revisado: 05-24-23
A very important message for both men and women, especially those raised in evangelical culture. I feel the authors may have been a tad harsh toward some of the books they critique, but still, a very important message.

Grocery shopping. Soccer practice. Dirty dishes. Motherhood is tough, and it often feels like the to-do list just gets longer and longer every day - making it hard to experience true joy in God, our children, and the gospel. In this encouraging book for frazzled moms, Gloria Furman helps us reorient our vision of motherhood around what the Bible teaches.

Historia
A powerful approach to bringing God's grace to kids. Did you know that the way we deal (or don't deal) with our kids' misbehavior shapes their beliefs about themselves, the world, and God? Therefore it's vital to connect with their hearts - not just their minds - amid the daily behavior battles. With warmth and grace, Jim and Lynne Jackson, founders of Connected Families, offer four tried-and-true keys to handling any behavioral issues with love, truth, and authority.

Must Read (or listen)
Revisado: 05-06-23
I would highly recommend this book to all parents seeking to use wise and effective discipline with their children to build into them godly character. They made some very important points I had not considered before, even helping me to understand some of the feelings I’d had as a child when facing discipline for specific events. The last half of the book is completely practical application which I found SO helpful.
