Surprise and suspense in a Sultan's harem
Revisado: 12-19-16
What made the experience of listening to Shadow Spinner the most enjoyable?
Shadow Spinner had a range of interesting characters, colorful settings that ranged from a palace, the palace's harem, the palace's rooftops, the streets of the poorest people outside the palace, and plenty of action. This book will hold your interest from beginning to end.
What other book might you compare Shadow Spinner to and why?
I have not read a book like this one.
What about Suzanne Toren’s performance did you like?
She represented the character's voices very well, and held me in suspense.

A Quirky book about two girls about 12 years old
Revisado: 11-17-16
Would you consider the audio edition of Summer of the Gypsy Moths to be better than the print version?
Both the same.
What other book might you compare Summer of the Gypsy Moths to and why?
This is an unusual book with some unexpected moments. The two girls are living with one of the girls' aunts -- one is a foster child, and the other finds out her aunt has been collecting foster parent money for her as well. The aunt dies, the girls discover her, and this is where the unexpected part begins. As you read it, you want to tell the characters what to do, because you think they're making some weird choices.
Which character – as performed by Jenna Lamia – was your favorite?
Both characters are really interesting and unusual.
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
The development of both characters was well done by the author. Both grow and change.
Any additional comments?
For a student who has experienced a recent death in the family, this would probably not be a good choice.

Historia
When news reports start appearing of a zombie outbreak in Ireland, B's racist father thinks it's a joke - but even if it isn't, he figures, it's ok to lose a few Micks. B doesn't fully buy into Dad's racism, but figures it's easier to go along with it than to risk the fights and abuse that will surely follow sticking up for Muslims, blacks, or immigrants. And when dodging his fists doesn't work, B doesn't hesitate to take the piss out of kids at school with a few slaps or cruel remarks. That is, until zombies attack the school.
