Historia
Mael Nguyen doesn’t believe in fate, but he does believe in magic. His entire life revolves around the study of the arcane—spells and rituals, potions and illusions. As far as Mael is concerned, all he needs is a book in one hand and magic in the other. Anything outside of his bookshop, hidden away in the streets of New Orleans, isn’t worth his attention. But when a strange human stumbles into his life and hires him for a job, bringing along his blinding smile and curious magic, Mael finds that Fate is just as dangerous as Magic.

Accurate autistic and trans masc representation. Beautiful diversity. Poetic writing. Tremendous world building. And amazing voice acting. I am so glad I bought this book, I’m truly so excited to listen to the next installment.

Great writing, Great Plot, Great Vocals 100/10
Revisado: 02-15-25
This is one of those rare monster romances that you can listen to again and again without a ridiculous amount of cringe to dig through. The writing and characters are both rich in quality. Even the action and sensual scenes are equally vibrant and heart racing. You won’t regret the credit. I promise.

Good… but also-
Revisado: 07-23-24
The story is really good at the very beginning and has some more unique aspects throughout, but the MC becomes quite annoying after a while.
For example, she will be like, “I MUST do what is reasonable!!!” But then makes the most thoughtless decisions and constantly follows impulses based on surface level information OR has things practically SPELLED OUT for her and then is still like, “What does this mean?!” And whines about it for five minutes straight. Like… brother in christ… THINK!
Also, while most of the romance is good the intimate scenes kinda suck, I had to skip a couple because it felt cringy.
Bjorn is a great character but it feels like he’s wasted on Freya; and honestly the only reason I’d read the next book is to see more of Bjorn’s character.

Amazing performance. Incredible writing. Had me laughing at work and embarrassing myself in front of my manager. Very cute and I always love some good non-binary rep. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS AUTHOR AND VOICE ACTOR. Their work is incredible and this was an amazing sequel, but works fine as a stand alone. Honestly I want more from these characters so badly, even just a glimpse of what it’s like for them after they finally figure out their situation. God this was such a good book! This is the second book from this author that I can and will listen to repeatedly.

Historia
No romantic story has ever lived up to Dr. Clementine Hughes's reality but at least he has his two-million-word fanfic and a prestigious research position at Vitalis-Barron Pharmaceuticals, where their benefits are superb and their experimentation on vampires highly unethical. When a mysterious accident turns Clementine into a vampire, his growing thirst forces him to the streets to hunt.

A solid plot. Very inclusive. The narration is good but some emotions expressed felt off from what was intended in the text. Still good tho.

Historia
Edison Rooker isn’t sure what to expect when he enters the office of Antonia Hex, the powerful sorceress who runs a call center for magical emergencies. He doesn’t have much experience with hexes or curses. Heck, he doesn’t even have magic. But he does have a plan—to regain the access to the magical world he lost when his grandmother passed. Antonia is…intimidating, but she gives him a job and a new name—Rook—both of which he’s happy to accept. Now all Rook has to do is keep his Spell Binder, an illegal magical detection device, hidden from the Magical Consortium.

Charming with Non-binary rep
Revisado: 08-08-23
The works by Lukens are all so adorable. They give me hope and fill me with so many bittersweet emotions like how I wish I had more of these coming of age stories that normalize people like me (Trans masc/ Non-binary). It’s a lil goofy, but the jokes actually land…and it’s earnest and sweet with a solid plot line. It was definitely worth the credit.

Historia
Arek hadn’t thought much about what would happen after he completed the prophecy that said he was destined to save the Kingdom of Ere from its evil ruler. So now that he’s finally managed to (somewhat clumsily) behead the evil king (turns out magical swords yanked from bogs don’t come pre-sharpened), he and his rag-tag group of quest companions are at a bit of a loss for what to do next. As a temporary safeguard, Arek’s best friend and mage, Matt, convinces him to assume the throne until the true heir can be rescued from her tower. Except that she’s dead.

The other reviews are wack
Revisado: 06-25-22
I was nervous to use a credit on this book bc some reviews called it cliché, and it was, but so what? It was really sweet and well written and if straight ppl can have a million different hallmark movies of the same plot why can’t lgbtq+ youth have their own version of a happily ever after, and I’ll be honest with you, it was still better than most Disney movies. It was sweet, and funny, and the characters pining for each other will have your gut wrenching and make you want to yell “You idiots!”, in the best possible way. It’s a good book. It’s worth the listen, and I will be listening again.
