Historia
When ten-year-old Ebby Freeman heard the gunshot, time stopped. And when she saw her brother, Baz, lying on the floor surrounded by the shattered pieces of a centuries-old jar, life as Ebby knew it shattered as well. The crime was never solved—and because the Freemans were one of the only Black families in a particularly well-to-do enclave of New England—the case has had an enduring, voyeuristic pull for the public. The last thing the Freemans want is another media frenzy splashing their family across the papers, but when Ebby's high profile romance falls apart, that's exactly what they get.

The author of New York Times best-selling novels like God Don't Play, Mary Monroe is especially adept at capturing the tumultous highs and lows of the unforgettable characters who populate her books. In She Had It Coming,it's the best of times and the worst of times for Dolores Reese, who's married to two different men in two different cities.

I like the consistent story telling and intricacies of the characters. The narrator is amazing and it really helps that she is the same narrator for each book. Loved this series 👏🏽

Revisado: 10-20-24
I was so shocked how this book played out. It was really good and unexpected. I had thought for a second that I would be able to predict the ending and I was ok with that. LOL. However the twist went in a totally different direction and I loved it!!! I also love this narrator. ❤️

Ok.. don't get me wrong, I love a good "continuation." However, this is just stringing me a long like a bad relationship, and I'm not here for it. I love AA, and Nicole Small is one of the best narrators. However, get to it already. 3 books in and the same story....over and over. I CANT!!! IF I DECIDE TO READ 4....IT WILL NOT BE UNTIL 5 IS RELEASED! I PROMISE

A Story of True Faith, Love, Hope and Triumph
Revisado: 06-09-23
This book is absolutely amazingly written. I had to prepare myself to read it, and some parts were difficult to get through. However, I am glad I stuck with it. We should bere more stories like this as it gives a real glimpse into what that time must have been like. The horrors and the sadness were inhumane. Thank GOD for the retelling of these stories and the triumph!
