Historia
Maggie Baxter, a practical, rule-following accountant, discovers that her husband of 17 years is cheating on her. All her meticulous life plans are crushed. When he leaves her for the other woman, Maggie and her the-world-is-my-smorgasbord chocolate lab, Kona, are left to put their lives back together. As Maggie begins to develop a Plan B for her life, she decides to be more like Kona. No, she's not going to sniff crotches and eat everything that isn't nailed down; rather she'll try to approach life with more ball-chasing abandon.

*I received a free copy of this audiobook in exchange for a voluntary and unbiased review.*
I'm a sucker for books with dogs in them, especially Labs.
I went into this book blind and although I found it rather predictable, I enjoyed the story.
If you are looking for a sweet, easy read/listen (featuring an adorable chocolate lab who could teach us all a thing or two), What the Dog Ate is for you!

I proposed on our first date. She laughed and told me I was insane. Less than a day later, she said yes. It was a whirlwind, but we were happy. Until we got greedy and wanted a family. It was a life I couldn't give her, not for lack of trying. Fertility just wasn't on our side.

Historia
Josephine Clark is trapped. A harrowing past haunts her every time she looks in the mirror, and she can't escape the violence of her everyday life. More and more, her thoughts turn to Evan Salinger, the boy she knew in high school. The boy they called a mental case. A loner. A freak. The boy who seemed to know things no one could know. For a few short weeks, Jo had found perfect solace in Evan's company, sneaking every night to meet him at the local pool.

Great story of love and loss and redemption.
Revisado: 03-24-17
What did you love best about How to Save a Life?
The characters were relatable and "real".
I've seen some people mention the paranormal aspect... I'm not sure that is what I would call it, but I loved that part of the story!
Jo and Evan are two lost souls who find friendship and love in each other, despite all of the obstacles in their way.
What about Ramona Master’s performance did you like?
She was easy to listen to. She used a distinct inflection and tone for each of the characters and it was easy to follow.
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
I don't want to give anything away, but the house boat made me smile.

I hurt. I hurt so deeply, I felt the pain searing in my bones and jabbing like a hot poker into my heart. I knew nothing would make it better as the memories pulled from the crevices of my mind, detailing the bad and the ugly, filling my thoughts with regret as I slipped into the darkness...When I was eight, my mother was dying of cancer, my father lost his job, and the bank kicked us out of our house. I was forced to move to the strange town of Arlis, Texas where my father and I slept in our car in the hospital parking lot.

A thought provoking, heartwrenching story of love.
Revisado: 03-17-17
What did you love best about The Mason List?
This book was just okay for me... until the last 30 minutes. Then it went from "eh" to "OMG!" I loved seeing The Mason List come to life. I loved the emotion and seeing the characters "wake up".
What was one of the most memorable moments of The Mason List?
My absolute favorite part of the book was seeing Alex put the Mason List into action. I had tears in my eyes as I was driving and listening!
What three words best describe Honey St. Dennis’s performance?
Just okay. Eh.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
I didn't have much of a reaction until the very end. Then I felt all the feels! I got teary-eyed. I felt sick to my stomach. And I smiled. It was beautiful.
Any additional comments?
I didn't love the narrator's performance, which may be part of the reason that the beginning of the book didn't really grab and hold my attention. But as I listened, I was able to get past the narration that annoyed me and really listened to the story.

Historia
Bernadette Fox is notorious. To her Microsoft-guru husband, she's a fearlessly opinionated partner; to fellow private-school mothers in Seattle, she's a disgrace; to design mavens, she's a revolutionary architect, and to 15-year-old Bee, she is a best friend and, simply, Mom.
Then Bernadette disappears. It began when Bee aced her report card and claimed her promised reward: a family trip to Antarctica. But Bernadette's intensifying allergy to Seattle - and people in general - has made her so agoraphobic that a virtual assistant in India now runs her most basic errands.

Bernadette fell short of my expectations.
Revisado: 01-24-17
What disappointed you about Where'd You Go, Bernadette?
I just couldn't get into this story. Although there were moments that made me laugh, I found the storyline confusing and not very interesting.
Has Where'd You Go, Bernadette turned you off from other books in this genre?
No, I will still read other books in this genre. I had high hopes for Where'd You Go, Bernadette based on reviews from friends and other booklovers. This book just wasn't for me.
How did the narrator detract from the book?
Although the narrator did a great job of providing different voices for each character, I found her voice to be very annoying.
What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?
I had high hopes of a light, funny read. Unfortunately, I walked away disappointed.

Twelve years later an unexpected phone call in the middle of the night has her packing up her life in Chicago and racing back home to the one person she ever regretted leaving behind.

Cute story that just needs a little something more
Revisado: 09-29-16
This book wasn’t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?
I'd consider it Young Adult, and although I do like YA books, this story just didn't have enough "meat" for me.
I think someone looking for a quick, clean, sweet story might enjoy it.
What was most disappointing about Emma Caufield’s story?
It was very predictable, but I just didn't connect with any of the characters. I wanted to know more about Tyler's story and I felt like the characters and storyline needed more development.
What three words best describe Kate van de Goor’s performance?
Thorough. Sweet. Teenage.
What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?
I didn't feel much of anything, which is part of the reason that I didn't really enjoy it. I like books that make me feel, that put me through an emotional rollercoaster.
