Historia
The theory that Shakespeare may not have written the works that bear his name is the most horrible, unspeakable subject in the history of English literature. Scholars admit that the Bard’s biography is a “black hole,” yet to publicly question the identity of the god of English literature is unacceptable, even (some say) “immoral.” In Shakespeare Was a Woman and Other Heresies, journalist and literary critic Elizabeth Winkler sets out to probe the origins of this literary taboo.

A well written, and accessible historical mystery
Revisado: 01-29-25
The author did a terrific job pulling together a myriad of historical and literary information into an enjoyable book. I’d personally recommend this one as a “ conspiracy theory “ book for those who tend to avoid the genre- and already have. The research is brave , valid, and entertaining. One minor complaint: I passed on this title in the past, assuming the entire book was a defense that Shakespeare was a woman- it isn’t. Rather , the author fairly addresses a myriad of theories regarding the authorship of “ The man from Stratford,” and in my opinion does a damn good job .

From the preeminent Hitler biographer, a fascinating and original exploration of how the Third Reich was willing and able to fight to the bitter end of World War II. Countless books have been written about why Nazi Germany lost World War II, yet remarkably little attention has been paid to the equally vital question of how and why it was able to hold out as long as it did.

Ok, not scary .
Revisado: 11-03-24
Fairly convoluted, pretty well written, but never traditionally “ frightening.” I staid for the ride, all the way until the end but probably will not be seeking out other titles by this author.

The definitive book on QAnon from the reporter knows them best; Will Sommer explains what it is, how it has gained a mainstream following among Republican lawmakers and ordinary citizens, the threat it poses to democracy, and how we can reach those who have embraced the conspiracy and are disseminating its lies.

I stopped listening halfway through the second story. There is nothing even remotely frightening in this collection, unless one is referring to the writing.

Historia
For more than 50 years, bizarre events at a remote Utah ranch have ranged from the perplexing to the wholly terrifying: vanishing and mutilated cattle, huge otherworldly creatures, invisible objects emitting magnetic fields, and more. For the family living at Skinwalker Ranch, life was under siege, and no one had been able to explain the horrors that surrounded them...But maybe science could. Leading a first-class team of research scientists, Colm Kelleher spent hundreds of days and nights on the Skinwalker property.

Historia
In a tiny, dilapidated trailer in northeastern Oregon, a young woman saw a vision of the Virgin Mary in an ordinary landscape painting hanging on her bedroom wall. After being met with skepticism from the local parish, the matter was officially placed "under investigation" by the Catholic diocese. Investigative journalist Randall Sullivan wanted to know how, exactly, one might conduct the official inquiry into such an incident, so he set off to interview theologians, historians, and postulators.

A well written account of the struggle to reconcile faith with fact. I sat in my driveway listening to this one-even after getting home from work.
