Historia
Without a common enemy to unite against, humanity teeters on the brink of self-destruction. Isaac has prevented one apocalypse, but now faces a more insidious threat: humanity itself. Grand plans for a perfect world are crumbling, and masterplans are failing as superpowers prove to be no cure-all. Societies are shattering under pressure, pushed to their breaking points.

Sad to see it end but definitely a good time to do so story wise.

Historia
Though the Abyss beckons to Hal, an old foe resurfaces. Poisoning his home, the Shadesblight cannot be ignored. The Tower of Blight will corrupt the entirety of the Shiverglades if Hal does not stop it. With bitter winter setting in, Hal will have to battle not only the corruption on his doorstep but the very elements themselves. As the armies of the Twelve Tribes march on Brightsong, Hal and his allies don't have the luxury of time to deal with the Tower. Every floor presents life-or-death battles, even as loot and new monster powers dangle like bait. But there is a silver lining.

Some needless exposition
Revisado: 10-16-24
It took 3 chapters to go over 3 choices of a single skill advancement. Mostly due to diverging conversation that was similar to someone with ADHD following every branch of a conversation. A good story is there but it needs more organized.

Artorian wakes in youthful form version three, and happier he could not be. Exploring Avalon is a treat to the senses, with cat cafes galore and gossip flowing evermore. Lectures on Laws and leisurely walks fill his days, with plenty abound to catch the eye. All is well on this enthusiastic stroll until a Heavenly falls from the sky, and Artorian can kiss his simple days good-bye.

Forgettable
Revisado: 02-13-23
I would zone out for 30 minutes and the story would be at the same point in the story. Felt like nothing of note happens and the writer is just filling space attempting to create an origin for every pop culture reference that hasn't been made yet. Literal pages of text to setup a "look how I made this reference!" moment that is not relevant to the story.

Historia
Maulkin and his Eternal allies may have just caused the apocalypse, but at least they’re doing it with style. The Voidgod is back and the Alvaren Queen is now convinced that Maulkin is the second coming of the Voidgod himself, but at least they have the totally awesome magic sword made out of the weapon that put the big bad down for a long nap last time! No wait, they don’t. The first thing Araphel did after stretching and yawning was to turn it to dust.

(Spoiler) A Hole
Revisado: 02-03-23
The lack of acknowledging Asher at the end made it feel like a hole in the story. It isn't long after the fight and Mercy never seems bothered. Even Malkin seemed to be over it.

Repetitive
Revisado: 12-23-22
Half of the book ends up being a rehash of events that just happened a couple pages ago or another retelling of every single person's powers. Normally reminders are nice, but the team is big now and explaining every ability ends up taking 2-3 chapters for one fight.

Great Performance

This is the reason I moved to audiobooks. The amount of emotion that can be felt from the narration is so much stronger than reading it. Not to mention the effort put in for actually singing in character with background music.

What if life as we know it was just a game? What if instead of traditional schools, children learned by participating in a virtual reality simulation, one that allowed them to experience "life" from birth to death - multiple times? What if one player, on his final play, could change the world forever?

One Mild Annoyance...
Revisado: 02-21-22
I found the book a relaxing listen. At least until the Christopher Columbus mentions. He did not prove the world was round. The majority of people at the time already knew it to be round based on science. Ancient Greeks had round globes. Columbus just thought the world was really small as well as round.

One Gripe
Revisado: 08-23-21
There is a scene where Jack gets a quest to do something, he then ignores it, later the quest is brought up again, and he acts like it's new information that he hadn't already promised to do. Only big issue I had.
