Enjoyed it!
Revisado: 09-11-23
I really enjoyed the book but I do wish it had kept the original title instead of being released with the movie title as a tie-in. The book explains a lot of details left out of the movie and reveals a much larger and more meaningful story than the movie does. It is a mistake to listen to the book expecting a retelling of the movie. Enjoy the book on its own.

Zachary Quinto - best known for his role as the Nimoy-approved Spock in the recent Star Trek reboot and the menacing, power-stealing serial killer, Sylar, in Heroes - brings his well-earned sci-fi credentials and simmering intensity to this audio-exclusive novella from master storyteller John Scalzi. One day, not long from now, it becomes almost impossible to murder anyone - 999 times out of a thousand, anyone who is intentionally killed comes back. How? We don't know.

Historia
Data is fundamental to the modern world. From economic development, to healthcare, to education and public policy, we rely on numbers to allocate resources and make crucial decisions. But because so much data fails to take into account gender, treating men as the default and women as atypical, bias and discrimination are baked into our systems. And women pay tremendous costs for this bias in time, money, and often with their lives. Celebrated feminist advocate Caroline Criado Perez investigates the shocking root cause of gender inequality and research in Invisible Women.

A thorough examination of discrimination
Revisado: 03-06-22
If you enjoy analyzing data, causation VS correlation discussions, or exploring why our world disregards women so frequently, this is the book for you. It's extremely informative without feeling like a textbook and while focused on women, it explores some intersectionality and the global impact on women, not just a US or European-centric view, as well as, covering more than just economic or medical implications, though those are the main focuses of the work.

I know this is controversial in the Trekdom, but Picard is not my favorite anything, not even meme, though I use his face-palm regularly. However, I enjoyed this book and feel like it's a must read if you're going to watch the series.

I appreciated the thorough breakdown of the studies and how the findings were interpreted, as well as bringing in supporting studies. While I would have loved more advice on how to overcome these obstacles for my stereotyped students, what was given has gotten me thinking about how I can be aware of these in my classroom, and seeking out best practices to lessen their affects.

Revisado: 07-13-20
I've devoured all 6 books in about a year's time, taking breaks for other books, but always eager to come back for this one. I don't want to spoil anything, but I've enjoyed the 20-ish year journey with Ishmael Wang.

This book has me second guessing
Revisado: 01-25-20
I'm not a romance reader. I've had friends recommend romance books for years, and I could just never quite get over the cheesy machismo that most had. But this book. Wow. Beautifully told story. Maybe it connected because it hit a little close to home for me in many ways, but I couldn't put it down.

A Delightful Character Book
Revisado: 01-23-20
Everyone loves a compelling plot, but without character development there isn't much point in reading something, IMHO. Nathan does an amazing job of writing characters that are real, honest, and engaging. So much so, I don't even care about the underlying plot. I mean, there is one, and it's a nice one, but for me, this series is all about the characters. I can't wait to read Full Share.
