I hate to give it 3 stars but…..
Revisado: 11-08-23
First off, my heart absolutely broke while listening to this story. I absolutely empathize with the Markels in this unthinkable tragedy. The Markel family’s bravery and steadfast commitment to holding everyone accountable for this murder is inspirational. I keep them in my prayers. But this book really, really needed a good editor. It is so redundant and has no many irrelevant details like the address and file numbers of the attorneys and case filings that it drove me a bit batty. And it completely lost me at Chapter 8. It is a heartbreaking, compelling story and I hope that it brought Ruth Markel some peace and I know other victims of crime will appreciate it but it’s just not a well-formatted book. I do recommend it for the content, however.

Enjoyable
Revisado: 12-14-18
I liked the narrator of the first book so it took me a bit to get used to Linda Look but she grew on me. I think this trilogy is just so much fun! Highly recommend if you’re just looking to be entertained.

So fun.
Revisado: 12-14-18
Are these books excellent examples of fine literature? No. But do they take you on an enjoyable ride with interesting characters and fun settings, with some romance and drama thrown in? Absolutely. I enjoyed the entire trilogy enormously.

Historia
Austen wrote, 'I am going to take a heroine whom no-one but myself will much like' and thus introduces the handsome, clever, rich - and flawed, Emma Woodhouse. Emma is perfectly content with her life and sees no need for either love or marriage; nothing however delights her more than matchmaking her fellow residents of Highbury. But when she ignores the warnings of her good friend Mr. Knightley and attempts to arrange a suitable match for her protegee Harriet Smith, her carefully laid plans soon unravel and have consequences that she never expected.

I love old time radio and so I love listening to audible dramas. This one was particularly well done. Highly enjoyable even if you’ve seen/read/heard Emma a zillion times before.

Historia
For years, rumors of the "Marsh Girl" have haunted Barkley Cove, a quiet town on the North Carolina coast. So in late 1969, when handsome Chase Andrews is found dead, the locals immediately suspect Kya Clark, the so-called Marsh Girl. But Kya is not what they say. Sensitive and intelligent, she has survived for years alone in the marsh that she calls home, finding friends in the gulls and lessons in the sand.

Does not match the hype!
Revisado: 12-14-18
The narrators regular voice is annoying, but the character voices were horrific! The vernacular as written reinforces ludicrous stereotypes. This is Exhibit A for why an author should not set a book in a region she does not know. Traveling to Asheville from the outer banks? Ridiculous! A six year olds entire family abandoning her? No. Did it create a luscious, mesmerizing tale of the marshes? Not really. I won’t get into my criticisms of the rest to avoid spoilers but the whole thing was unbelievable yet predictable and overall just bad. I have no idea why so many people looooove this book. It’s 50 Shades of Gray bad.
