Historia
Justin Brierley is convinced that in our time we are witnessing a growing wave of faith. Famously described as the “long, withdrawing roar” of the “Sea of Faith,” the Christian narrative that shaped the West has been replaced by sweeping secularism. But is that the end of the story? It was a conversation with agnostic journalist Douglas Murray that led Brierley to investigate whether a change was on the horizon.

Well done

Brierley clearly articulates how the atheistic thinkers have changed their tune over time. Well written and well performed.

How the Bible Actually Works makes clear that there is no one right way to read or listen to the Bible. Moving us beyond the damaging idea that “being right” is the most important measure of faith, Enns’ freeing approach to Bible study helps us to instead focus on pursuing enlightenment and building our relationship with God - which is exactly what the Bible was designed to do.

Not well thought out
Revisado: 07-07-22
I ultimately disagree with his conclusion. His thought process seems to remove any need for the Bible at all. And seeing the Bible in the context of ‘wisdom’ begs the question ‘who’s wisdom?’ Or what if two people contextualize the Bible in contradictory ways? Who is right? His answer seems to be ‘both’ which then, in my opinion, removes any need for a Bible at all.

Historia
Drawing on their own cross cultural experience in global mission, O'Brien and Richards show how better self-awareness and understanding of cultural differences in language, time, and social mores allow us to see the Bible in fresh and unexpected ways. Getting beyond our own cultural assumptions is increasingly important for being Christians in our interconnected and globalized world. Learn to read Scripture as a member of the global body of Christ.
