Absolutely wonderful!

Sometimes I forget just how innocent we were in the sixties. This book transported me back to that time when summers seemed to last forever and violence did not happen in our own neighborhoods. Jack, Frankie, Will and Pete stand on the cusp of a new and frightening world in the summer of 1968. And yet they carry with them courage, character and strength. These boys are the boys we all grew up with and the gutter they face will change them, but I have a feeling they’re going to be just fine. The narrator does a marvelous job and he had exceptional material with which to work. I am looking forward to more works from Bill Rivers.

I do love Elizabeth Berg’s books. The characters are people who are just like me and the folks I know. They are gentle stories that leave me comforted. I also really like Ms. Berg’s narration. Her voice is soothing.
