Historia
When Finlay Ashowan joins the staff of the King and Queen of Daxaria, he’s an enigma. No one knows where he comes from or how he came to be where he is, which suits Fin just fine. He’s satisfied simply serving as the royal cook, keeping nosy passersby out of his kitchen, and concocting some truly uncanny meals. But Fin’s secret identity doesn’t stay hidden for long. After all, it’s not every day a house witch and his kitten familiar, Kraken, take to meddling in imperial affairs.

A he-witch Cinderella
Revisado: 10-16-24
Main character was like able. Soft romance. Some magic. The cat gang was almost the best part but needs more development. Reads like a YA book. I don’t hate it, but it could be better.

Historia
Even before they were transformed into Gorgons, Medusa, Stheno, and Euryale were unique among their immortal family. Curious about mortals and their lives, Medusa and her sisters entered the human world in search of a place to belong, yet quickly found themselves at the perilous center of a dangerous Olympian rivalry and learned—too late—that a god's love is a violent one.

Sisters relationships. Rape. Trauma.
Revisado: 09-16-24
The book started off strong. The middle of the book was not as engaging. The ending was strong and brought closure to the issues presented in the book. Deals with rape, trauma, and gender equality. Relatable to today’s issues around rape, abortion, and gender roles.

Historia
Growing up in a ghastly orphanage run by an abusive matron, Nica coped in the only way she could—by retreating to her imagination, where she lived out fantastical stories, especially about the Tearsmith, the man who makes tears, a terrifying figure who forges all the fears that dwell in people’s hearts. When she’s finally taken in by an adoptive family at seventeen, Nica thinks she’s leaving the group home, its torments, and her prison of otherworldly tales behind her. That is, until Rigel—a young man raised from birth in the same dreadful orphanage—joins her new family.

Lost in Translation
Revisado: 04-23-24
This books was translated specifically for an American audience, and they did not do a great job at it. Many of the nuances did not translate well, especially because it just doesn’t exist in the American system in the way it was written. Additionally, it was written in UK format, not the US (whisper synch). They could have kept the story in its original setting and just translate it to English from there. It would have made more sense. The story was too long and it took a while for it to pick up, halfway through. Then it plummeted really quickly after. But since I’ve already invested 75% into the book, I might as well finish it. Overall, it was a good book. It’s a solid 3/5 ⭐️

Complete plot twist
Revisado: 03-29-24
Since this is a fictional story, I won’t pick apart the author’s depiction of a teacher student relationship. However, I was hooked the moment I started reading this book. There are lots of plot twists with some being more believable than others. Overall, I really enjoyed this book!!!!

If you’re looking for a light hearted fun romance, this is it. The narrator is great and the storyline followed a modern day fairy tail theme.

Almost DNF
Revisado: 06-28-23
The story started off strong and promising. Then the story took a dive. Took me over a year to finish the book. I almost quit several times, but I kept going. I’m glad I finished it, but I didn’t love, like, or hate the book. It was just okay.

Historia
The year is 1348. Thomas, a disgraced knight, has found a young girl alone in a dead Norman village. An orphan of the Black Death, and an almost unnerving picture of innocence, she tells Thomas that plague is only part of a larger cataclysm - that the fallen angels under Lucifer are rising in a second war on heaven, and that the world of men has fallen behind the lines of conflict. Is it delirium or is it faith? She believes she has seen the angels of God. She believes the righteous dead speak to her in dreams. And now she has convinced the faithless Thomas to shepherd her across a depraved landscape to Avignon.

Not for me
Revisado: 10-10-22
This is not a book that I would typically pick. I wanted to like it, but I found that it was a difficult task. The characters were not like able and the storyline was just okay. Again, not my typical genre, which might be the reason I found this book difficult to enjoy.
