Narrating was horrible
Revisado: 08-31-24
The story wasn't bad but I could not get past the narrator! If the main characters are women please get a woman narrator, his imitation of a woman sounded mocking. The story wasn't bad but ok.

Naw…not interesting
Revisado: 06-04-24
It wasn’t very good writing and it felt like a cliche, nothing original. Kind of boring and predictable.

Historia
Now reduced to a schoolyard chant, the Hope family murders shocked the Maine coast one bloody night in 1929. While most people assume seventeen-year-old Lenora was responsible, the police were never able to prove it. Other than her denial after the killings, she has never spoken publicly about that night, nor has she set foot outside Hope’s End, the cliffside mansion where the massacre occurred.

Took to long
Revisado: 04-22-24
This book was a little dry until it got to the end. I felt like most of the book was a filler then it just didn't make sense with the "shock" at the end. For the most part, I thought the story was good but it could have been shortened.

Historia
Holly Sherwin has been a struggling playwright for years, but now, after receiving a grant to develop her play Witching Night, she may finally be close to her big break. All she needs is time and space to bring her vision to life. When she stumbles across Hill House on a weekend getaway upstate, she is immediately taken in by the mansion, nearly hidden outside a remote village. It’s enormous, old, and ever-so eerie—the perfect place to develop and rehearse her play.

ehhh its ok
Revisado: 03-30-24
The story was just unfulfilling, there seemed to be a lot of loose ends and things unexplained and a rushed ending. It was not a horror novel, in my opinion, it was kind of dry and boring and the ending was disappointing. The narrator sounded like she had a smoker's voice and the singing was annoying.

Solid from start to finish
Revisado: 03-12-24
It’s been years since I’ve read a Dean Koontz novel and this book didn’t disappoint. Pleasant reading although I wouldn’t categorize it as being a horror novel. I’d say more suspense and action and some science fiction.

Nice ending twist
Revisado: 02-27-24
I don’t think it was bad. I think there was some dry spots in the book where I at times lost interest but the ending was a bit interesting twist. I enjoyed it enough to read the other book.

Nobody has a “normal” family, but Vesper Wright’s is truly...something else. Vesper left home at eighteen and never looked back—mostly because she was told that leaving the staunchly religious community she grew up in meant she couldn’t return. But then an envelope arrives on her doorstep.

Slow burn

It wasn’t a bad story but for me it was kind of slow to build up. There were times I was wondering where it was going but it did complete itself at the end.
