Good background-filler for free

This book was enjoyable to listen to and fit in with the other Galaxy's Edge books nicely. I just wish it was longer.

Historia
Legion Dark Ops calls upon Chhun, Wraith, and the survivors of Victory Company to form an elite Kill Team of legionnaires in the aftermath of the Battle of Kublar. Their mission is clear: find and eliminate those responsible for the Kublar disaster. Standing between them and their objective are a maze of corrupt Republic officials, a spy on the verge of losing himself in deep cover, and the Zhee - a murderous species that will stop at nothing. But the biggest threat of all might be the truth they seek to uncover - a truth that could ignite a revolution. And engulf the galaxy in flames.

Leaves much to be desired
Revisado: 07-28-19
The first book, Kill Team, in this file is ok. It divides itself between 2 points of view. One point of view is told in a strange manner ... "You are Tom. You go to the refrigerator. You get some water and drink it. You do this. You do that." This does not inspire any sense of depth whatsoever. There is extremely scant dialog during these chapters. The other point of view, with Chhun is good. At least there is some dialog.
Now, to the really bad part. The second book in the file, Attack of Shadows. I don't know what happened to the authors between the 1st and 2nd books, but they must have done something that destroyed thousands of their brain cells.
Attack of Shadows is completely incoherent. It is no book at all. It has virtually NO characters and NO dialog for the first hour.
That's all I know about because that's all I could take. I'm returning this book and will get something else, not by these authors.
In the 2nd book, there is nothing but mindless exposition describing nameless squadrons fighting nameless battles over some unremarkable planet in an unremarkable galaxy. It is completely meaningless. I really couldn't believe what I was hearing. These authors didn't get better, they got worse. A lot worse. These authors can't string two sentences of dialog together. I didn't say "good dialog", I said "dialog" period.
I'm mad at the authors because they wasted an hour of my time with this drivel. Every time I tried to listen to Attack of Shadows I got angry.
I don't know who is giving this book 4's and 5's. This book is nowhere close to a 4, or a 3. I have no idea who greenlit Attack of Shadows, but they should be fired.

Great book, but questionable abridgement
Revisado: 05-20-13
I love Terry Brooks and the Shannara series. Charles Keating, as always, does a great job with this title in both narration and character voices.
Now for my one pet peeve. Garet Jax is probably one of the most well known and well liked characters in the world of Shannara. To leave his final battle out of this abridgement is darn near unforgivable. I mean, not a single word about it, except at the very beginning. I realize they try to trim these versions down to 6 hours, but come on. At least give Garet Jax a few more minutes. He deserves it.

Great so far!
Revisado: 08-27-11
I read this book several decades ago when I was in high school. Loved it. I decided to give this audible book thing a try and I was not disappointed. Listened to an hour last night and really enjoyed it.
Charles Keating does a great job. His voice is clear and he uses the right tone for this story. I listened to an excerpt from the unabridged version read by Scott Brick and I did not like the way Brick read it.
Listening to this story brought back a lot of good memories. I'm glad I made this purchase.
