Historia
Welcome to the Misfit Mob... It's where Police Scotland dumps the officers it can't get rid of but wants to: the outcasts, the troublemakers, the compromised. Officers like DC Callum MacGregor, lumbered with all the boring go-nowhere cases. So when an ancient mummy turns up at the Oldcastle tip, it's his job to find out which museum it's been stolen from. But then Callum uncovers links between his ancient corpse and three missing young men, and life starts to get a lot more interesting.

Sound modulation makes this un-listenable
Revisado: 10-25-18
I think this might be a pretty fun book. Unfortunately, the sound editing/modulation made this un-listenable for me. I quickly grew tired of having to adjust the volume. Partly the narrator's fault, but I place the blame on the production.

Historia
Renée Ballard works the night shift in Hollywood, beginning many investigations but finishing none, as each morning she turns her cases over to day shift detectives. A once up-and-coming detective, she's been given this beat as punishment after filing a sexual harassment complaint against a supervisor. But one night she catches two cases she doesn't want to part with: the brutal beating of a prostitute left for dead in a parking lot and the killing of a young woman in a nightclub shooting. Ballard is determined not to give up at dawn.

Hope this will be a new series!
Revisado: 10-29-17
Connelly is a top favorite of mine. Loved the narrator, and female narrators I love are few, as many of them sound "wussy". I much prefer narrators who don't overact. The only reason I gave her 4 instead of 5 stars is that she is still a new narrator. Loved Ballard with Moennig narrating, hope this is a series!!!

Good series, volume issues

Any additional comments?
I enjoy this series, and I like this narrator. But am I the only one who is annoyed by the volume differences between Easter's and Nikki's voices? I have to keep adjusting the volume. Otherwise really enjoy this series!

Historia
We expect our judges to be honest and wise. Their integrity and impartiality are the bedrock of the entire judicial system. We trust them to ensure fair trials, to protect the rights of all litigants, to punish those who do wrong, and to oversee the orderly and efficient flow of justice. But what happens when a judge bends the law or takes a bribe? It’s rare, but it happens. Lacy Stoltz is an investigator for the Florida Board on Judicial Conduct. She is a lawyer, not a cop, and it is her job to respond to complaints dealing with judicial misconduct.

Narration so bad I can't listen
Revisado: 02-28-17
Any additional comments?
What a disappointment. I love Grisham, but this narrator is so bad I just can't listen to it. Some of the reviewers doubt if Grisham even wrote this. I can't comment on that because I couldn't make it through enough of the book. Bummer!

Might be good ...
Revisado: 08-28-09
The story was interesting enough, especially the beginning. Unfortunately, by 3/4 of the way through, I couldn't stand to listen to the narrator any longer. I didn't even care anymore how the story ended. Interestingly, my husband really liked this audiobook.
This narrator really "overacts" and tries too hard to sound male during the male parts, and just sounds silly. It's a shame more narrators don't "get" that reading an audiobook is not the same as radio theatre. Maybe some listeners enjoy that approach. I like audiobooks read with enough expression to capture the atmosphere created by the writing. If I "notice" the narrator much, it's probably because they're annoying. If I forget that I am listening instead of reading, the narrator is a master.
I gave 2 stars instead of 1 because the story isn't bad.

Historia
And Then the Darkness is a gripping account of the disappearance in the Australian Outback of English tourist Peter Falconio. His girlfriend, Joanne Lees, was found cut, bleeding and wandering the highway, her hands bound. Joanne's account of her ordeal sparked a frenzy of media interest and the biggest manhunt ever mounted in Australia. Questions arose about the police operation and about Joanne herself.

Excellent true crime account
Revisado: 08-27-09
Very well written and narrated. Great for lovers of true crime! I really appreciated the narrator; Aussie accents tend to get on my nerves but her voice was enjoyable to listen to. She doesn't over-read or overact. My idea of an excellent narrator is one who makes you forget you're listening instead of reading, and she has this quality. I wish there were more audiobooks available with her narration. This was one of my first purchases after joining, and it remains one of my favorites (if your in the mood to get lost in a great story). It is graphic at times but only as much as necessary. Neither the writing or the narration are ever gratuitous. Recommend!

I haven't yet listened to the whole book; about an hour and then I gave up. I couldn't hear it at all by using my iPod in the car, so I burned it onto a disc, yielding little improvement. It is very dull, like having a text book read to you. Very disappointed.
