Historia
Addressing the fundamental questions about how to live, Meditations for Mortals offers a powerful new way to take action on what counts: a guiding philosophy of life Oliver Burkeman calls “imperfectionism.” It helps us tackle challenges as they crop up in our daily lives: our finite time, the lure of distraction, the impossibility of doing anything perfectly.

I wish that the book were longer like maybe 12 weeks and I wish that there were more defined tasks either daily or weekly much like the artist sway. It feels like a book in which I sort of missed the specific tasks or exercises he was asking the reader to try, but generally heard the wonderful insights and information, he had gathered and offered in the book would definitely buy and recommend for other people. Thanks.

In this book, he outlines a path for achieving this ancient, but urgently necessary way of living.

Outstanding information great lessons
Revisado: 12-05-24
Wonderful book. Great lessons. Absolutely worth both a read and a slow and highlighter in hand re-read. I love when authors read their own work but this performance felt like he was uncomfortable and the tone came off as not great. It interferes with the information for me. Still so grateful to have it as an audio book. I almost wonder if he read the book aloud to a dear friend in his favorite room at home if it would have been more comfortable. You should absolutely add this book to your repeat read list.

Historia
Twenty years ago, Bill Bryson went on a trip around Britain to discover and celebrate that green and pleasant land. The result was Notes from a Small Island, a true classic and one of the bestselling travel books ever written. Now he has traveled about Britain again, by bus and train and rental car and on foot, to see what has changed—and what hasn’t.

Ugh. Rambling, long winded, dare I say boring
Revisado: 08-26-24
What a disappointment. Oh well. Bill Bryson has written so many wonderful and funny books I know that it’s impossible for every book to be good but this one needed a good editor to really shape and direct it. It’s like have a conversation with an old man who repeats himself and drifts off to long pointless tangents…

Historia
Think of The War of Art as tough love...for yourself. Since 2002, The War of Art has inspired people around the world to defeat "resistance"; to recognize and knock down dream-blocking barriers and to silence the naysayers within us. Resistance kicks everyone's butt, and the desire to defeat it is equally as universal. The War of Art identifies the enemy that every one of us must face, outlines a battle plan to conquer this internal foe, then pinpoints just how to achieve the greatest success.

Reading performance is so bad that ruins the book
Revisado: 03-13-24
The narration is so poor that it actually makes it harder to understand and takes away from the book. Not all authors are good narrators. I don’t know who produced it but they collected a paycheck without ever listening to this book let alone directing how it was read and edited. It’s like being yelled at at high speed in a flat tone. I wish I could get my credit back and return this book.

Historia
My mother wants all her kids and grandkids to spend Christmas Eve at her house and wake up on Christmas morning together. Sounds reasonable, right? And it would be. If it weren’t my mother. My husband, Declan, is protesting any involvement, though he’s openly intrigued by the idea of claiming his territory by having sex in my childhood bed. And by intrigued, I mean a series of really hot suggestions that make me whimper when I have to say no. Wait - why am I saying no, again?

Disappointing
Revisado: 03-22-19
This felt more like a chapter out of the middle of a book rather than a stand alone special edition. This holiday edition can't be super fun and charming but this one seemed like she must've written it on the plane right before a meeting as quickly as she could. No real story running through out. Lacking almost all of the wonderful smart sense of humor of her other stories and books.

Stephanie Plum might not be the world's greatest bounty hunter, but she knows when she's being played. Ken Globovic (aka Gobbles), hailed as the Supreme Exalted Zookeeper of the animal house known as Zeta fraternity, has been arrested for beating up the dean of students at Kiltman College. Gobbles has missed his court date and gone into hiding. People have seen him on campus, but no one will talk. Things just aren't adding up.

Disappointing addition to series
Revisado: 05-16-18
Wish she spent more time on writing a good story like the old days. This is a weak addition to the series.
