Historia
In virtually every way that can be measured, Gen Z’s mental health is worse than that of previous generations. Youth suicide rates are climbing, antidepressant prescriptions for children are common, and the proliferation of mental health diagnoses has not helped the staggering number of kids who are lonely, lost, sad and fearful of growing up. What’s gone wrong with America’s youth? In Bad Therapy, bestselling investigative journalist Abigail Shrier argues that the problem isn’t the kids—it’s the mental health experts.

I could have made so many mistakes if not for this book
Revisado: 03-20-24
It’s terrifying to imagine becoming a parent without having read this book. There are simply too many things to list, but just understanding the actual science of efficacy when it comes to therapy and kids(spoiler: it’s very very bad, worse than you think) is enough to make this book worth the read.

Five years ago Corin Cadence's brother entered the Serpent Spire - a colossal tower with ever-shifting rooms, traps, and monsters. Those who survive the spire's trials return home with an attunement: a mark granting the bearer magical powers. According to legend, those few who reach the top of the tower will be granted a boon by the spire's goddess. He never returned. Now it's Corin's turn. He's headed to the top floor, on a mission to meet the goddess.

Kept me interested the entire time
Revisado: 12-17-23
I think the book had plenty of content to keep me interested and was paced extremely well for a book 20 hours in length. That’s not easy to do. If you are a fan of The Cradle Series then you will find some similarities and will likely enjoy this book as I have.
I can’t say I have any real complaints. The magic system was simple but interesting enough, the story made sense more-less as long as you didn’t try to think about it too hard.
If you’ve read hundreds of fantasy novels like I have then I doubt you are going to get your mind utterly blown away by this book. But it’s just fresh enough to keep me invested and I definitely plan on continuing the rest of the series!
The only true flaw this book has is a completely out of pocket and utterly nonsensical same-sex romance that takes up about 5 minutes of the book in total and is completely irrelevant to the rest of the story. It almost seemed like it was a last minute decision by an editor, very much like it was added in post for some bizarre and unknown reason.
I’m sure the writer managed to alienate a lot of people with this decision, especially since this could make for an excellent book for kids without it. But it’s such a small and insignificant aspect that you could easily ignore it as though it never happened.

Earth enjoys unprecedented prosperity due to the infusion of Trisolaran knowledge. With human science advancing daily and the Trisolarans adopting Earth culture, it seems that the two civilizations will soon be able to coexist peacefully as equals, without the terrible threat of mutually assured annihilation. Not as good as 3BP or Dark Forest, but worth reading
Revisado: 10-08-22
It just doesn’t hold up to the first 2 in the series. The ending of Dark Forest was a much better conclusion, but that doesn’t mean this book doesn’t have awesome and inspired ideas in it. The books biggest weakness is being a sequel to the 2 best sci-fi books ever written.

Not QUITE Hard Science fiction, but still excellent!
Revisado: 11-21-21
This book is less about innovative technology, and more about first contact and the impact of a superior race shepherding us to the next stage. As a lover of all things science fiction, I definitely recommend it.

Historia
On the first day of the new year, no one dies. This of course causes consternation among politicians, religious leaders, morticians, and doctors. Among the general public, on the other hand, there is initially celebration - flags are hung out on balconies, people dance in the streets. They have achieved the great goal of humanity: eternal life. Then reality hits home....

Traumatized by the bombing of Dresden at the time he had been imprisoned, Pilgrim drifts through all events and history, sometimes deeply implicated, sometimes a witness. He is surrounded by Vonnegut's usual large cast of continuing characters (notably here the hack science fiction writer Kilgore Trout and the alien Tralfamadorians, who oversee his life and remind him constantly that there is no causation, no order, no motive to existence).

I can explain why many of the reviews are so angry
Revisado: 07-30-21
So, the reason a bunch of people are saying they didn’t like the book is because of an extremely weird and out of place rant by the main character about how god is fake. It was admittedly pretty unnecessary, it is never referenced again in the rest of the book and seems to have no purpose other than to take a jab at non-atheists. But who cares, you’d have to be pretty sensitive to let a 5 minute rant put you off a book as book as this one.
The entire book was excellent. A must listen, must read book for any lover of fiction, and that goes double for people with a love of 80’s lore. But this book has a 5 star rating with 200,000+ reviews, obviously it’s good.
