Have no idea if this is a good book or not, so many skips I made it only about 10 min before I called it quits.

Horrible narriator

I am very glad I was able to find the audio to this book that was read by the narrator of all the other books. To me, part of a good story teller (reader in this case) to to make each character unique and recognizable, none of that was done in this book. Also, he was mispronouncing the names of key characters!!!

A pretty decent story if you can get through the reading, very amateur voices except for main character.

It took me to sentence 3 to be hooked on this book. I got the book because of the movie and I was not disappointed at all, it is wonderful, told in a way that makes you think you are there and full of more facts then I ever learned in history class (maybe each HS class should be made to listen to the book).

What did you love best about A Reluctant Bride?

The story is a good story, the beginning is not so good only due to the reader sounding more like a computer.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Sara, she is very strong willed.

How did the narrator detract from the book?

She does not use the different voices that I have grown to enjoy in other books. She sounds like a computer more times then not, that is why I almost stopped listening to the book due to her voice.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

The breaking though of your tight heart strings.

Not what I expected

What would have made Forrest Gump better?

I know it is a fictional book, that is fine, but after the movie part ended it went downhill from there. Books are, generally, better then the movie....not the case in this one. I am glad that the movie did not show all of what the last half of the book had.

What could Winston Groom have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?

Cut it in half.

Which character – as performed by Mark Hammer – was your favorite?

Not really any of them, too much of the same voice for each character.

If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from Forrest Gump?

The last half of the book.

The only reason I did not return this book for a refund is because I did not think it fair since I did listen to about 3/4 of it, hoping that it would get better. Not happy with this book at all, but that happens when you read/listen to books.

What didn’t you like about Harvey Betancourt’s performance?

I did not care for the performance in this book, the voice is just not one you would think of for this type of story.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

I may not have wanted to sit and listen to this book all at one time, but it sure had me coming back for more.

Any additional comments?

The book, overall, is a good listen and had some very interesting parts in it. I would def recommend it as a good book to my friends and family. Hard to believe that people are treated the way this author was by a so called religion that has morphed itself into a cult and money maker for the elite few.
