Historia
Anthony Peardew is the keeper of lost things. Forty years ago he carelessly lost a keepsake from his beloved fiancée, Therese. That very same day, she died unexpectedly. Brokenhearted, Anthony sought consolation in rescuing lost objects - the things others have dropped, misplaced, or accidently left behind - and writing stories about them. Now, in the twilight of his life, Anthony worries that he has not fully discharged his duty to reconcile all the lost things with their owners.

An Unexpected Pleasure
Revisado: 11-05-23
What a perfect balance of ups an downs with a touch of whimsy told through exquisite writing. Wonderful narration. Lots of twists and turns without losing its way. The book’s summary cannot adequately express the richness within. Loved it. Am missing the characters already.

Loosing Interest
Revisado: 12-31-22
Just not as interesting as others in this he series. Fell asleep listening and never went back to see what I missed. Sam’s resistance to aspects of the presidency borders on boringly childish vs. smart rule-breaker as we’ve seen her before.

Nauseatingly Boring
Revisado: 11-04-22
Leave it to Beaver guy and Annette Funicello meet psycho killer in Smallville. Wooden, boring characters for even a bodice ripper. Could have been an interesting story if there were even an iota of character development. The female lead’s ‘voice’ is annoyingly sugary and doesn’t say much more than ‘I want a baby.’ It’s all so 50”s. Skipped ahead to identify the killer to end the agony of listening to the rest of it. Do yourself a favor and skip this one.

Historia
Grace Isabel MacKenna has a hundred things to do today. Killing someone isn't one of them. It is supposed to be a quick visit to Boston for the Buchanan anniversary party, then on to Scotland to collect an inheritance. She checks into her hotel and then decides to go for a brisk walk. But after getting lost, she ends up with a wounded man stumbling into her arms—and his shooter coming after them both. When she fires back in self-defense, she doesn’t expect him to drop dead.

Mixed Review
Revisado: 07-24-22
Always love a Julie Garwood novel from time to time to leave the woes of the world behind. Almost never disappointed! Liked the overall plot in this story. It had potential and was different from its predecessors in the series. However, the primary characters really dragged this one down. Isabelle has some likable attributes, but she is written as so naive and insipid she enters ‘dumb blonde’ territory. The joke about her driving skills could have been funny if it wasn’t over-played to absurdity. Michael is completely wooden and doesn’t do much more than grunt 3-4 words at a time. Other than being told how attractive he is, he comes across as a complete bore. I started hoping Isabelle would run off with one of the other characters or strike out on her own musical career. Anything but end up with Michael. Too bad, the potential was there for an entertaining story. The characters deserve a serious re-write to do both the story and the characters justice.

Wonderful Story that Never Loses its Humanity
Revisado: 07-19-22
Loved it. The performer was exceptional as was the writing. Refreshing recounting of a difficult subject… a little fantastical at times. The phrase ‘tender mercies’ comes to mind.

Naive, Head-shakingly silly
Revisado: 07-15-22
The premise of the story could have generated an engrossing tale in the hands of a more sophisticated writer. I wasn’t expecting the Christian messages to dominate. They could have worked more subtly. There is zero character development, as everyone is one dimensional. The situations, as presented, are laughably naive and over simplistic. It’s like one hours long episode of Leave it to Beaver. Jack is such a Boy Scout. The worst aspect is the awful performance of Lizzy/Eliza. It’s so wooden and stilted. Other than the author telling you who these people are, the performer fails to bring across the characters the author is describing. Most annoying is that from start to finish, Lizzy sounds like a guy.

Layla Roy has defied the fates. Despite being born under an inauspicious horoscope, she is raised to be educated and independent by her eccentric grandfather, Dadamoshai. And, by cleverly manipulating the hand fortune has dealt her, she has even found love with Manik Deb - a man betrothed to another. All were minor miracles in India that spring of 1943, when young women's lives were predetermined - if not by the stars, then by centuries of family tradition and social order.

Simpy Narrator
Revisado: 02-19-22
Touches of interest. Shallow & trite mostly. All made worse by wooden male narrators and a stunningly pathetic female lead. Her voice portrayed a timid & shaky girly ‘heroine’. Poor role model.

Interesting but odd
Revisado: 12-03-21
I read quite a bit of WW II fiction. The plot twists in this one are interesting, but don’t always work. The present-day ending is silly. To be honest, I’m not a fan of faith-based literature and found the religious references distracting and a bit preachy. Will avoid this author in the future. I’m sure there are others who will love be her.

Early Nora
Revisado: 11-29-21
Quintessential Nora, but early. Needed much more editing. The narrator performed women’s voices well, but butchered the male voices. Why do so many female narrators think by adopting a gravelly voice it becomes inherently male. Throw in a stuffy upper crust accent and it’s simply annoying. Had to tune out the voice of the male lead. If you miss listening to this one, it’s not a great loss.
