Concise and Powerful
Revisado: 02-08-25
Sometimes you just need to hear truths outlined and organized in a way that isn’t cluttered. My teenage daughter is struggling with feeling like God is silent so I did a search for “when God is silent” and this popped up as the only option. No reviews so I was skeptical but decided to get it anyway. SO GLAD I DID! This little book was just what I needed. No fluff but well written and it answers so many questions Believers bump up against. Definitely worth the read!

Zechariah, Iddo's oldest grandson, feels torn between his grandfather's ancient beliefs and the comfort and success his father enjoys in Babylon. But he soon begins to hear the voice of God, encouraging him to return to the land given to his forefathers.

Another great book by Lynn Austin
Revisado: 07-17-24
Lynn does a great job of bringing Old Testament stories to life and showing how humanity has been the same through history with our doubts and fears…but God has always been faithful and still is. This book will encourage you and your faith.

Historia
In the compelling conclusion to the New York Times best-seller Her Mother’s Hope, Christy Award-winning author Francine Rivers explores the sorrow that can tear families apart and the grace that can heal the deepest wounds. Just as Carolyn had formed a stronger bond with her Oma Marta than with her mother, so Carolyn’s daughter is drawn to her grandma more than to a mom who’s caught up in the 1960s counterculture....

At the front of a middle-school classroom in Oklahoma, a boy named Khosrou (whom everyone calls "Daniel") stands, trying to tell a story. His story. But no one believes a word he says. To them he is a dark-skinned, hairy-armed boy with a big butt whose lunch smells funny; who makes things up and talks about poop too much.

An Unexpected Masterpiece
Revisado: 06-07-24
Wow. A friend recommended this book. I didn’t know the riveting jewel it would be. It’s a different style of writing than you will expect, so start reading with an open mind to a different taste of storytelling. You will walk down memory lane with the author in such clear and colorful ways, you will feel like you lived inside the story with him. The mix of humor, the beauty and complexities of family relationships, and the sobering realities of life as a refugee are fantastic. Very few books have tempted me to immediately begin them again after finishing. This is definitely one of them. Enjoy getting swept away.

Read this before anything else!
Revisado: 02-29-24
Phenomenal read! I’d give it 10 stars if I could. The story is so informative with research findings and medication insights, but the flow of her life story is riveting and you don’t want to put it down. A must read if you struggle with mental illness or have a loved one who does. You will find hope here. Not false hope, but true hope about what might be possible for some who thinks all hope is lost. Her honesty is refreshing and in the end you want to somehow enlist a standing ovation for the life she achieved that she fought SO hard for. If you haven’t seen her TED TALK go there next. I’m so thankful I found this book!
