This book, set in our current situation, fit so well, it is scary YET so plausible. I appreciate the work that went into this. As an aside, let's do everything we can to make this not a how to oppress women worth the excuse we must make them safer.

This was a great book. The story moved along with no dragging. Narrator was perfect enough so that the book it self shined through. I can not wait for the next book.

Great start to a new series

Very quickly you come to care about the characters. I love books that drag me in and make me care. Lord of action and a few new skills to the Mermaid and Selkie mythos, but for well and can be added without great disagreement. Overall a fast easy listen that leaves you wanting book 2.

well written story

The author wove a great story. It tracked nicely, the story made sense, it was beautifully narrated, including the narrator singing which was also well done. Personally I was a bit put off by the underlying christian themes but it was a distraction within the story.

Can Crystal get a break?

This was action from the beginning. Poor Crystal, is there anyone in her life that does not have an ulterior motive? This book keeps rolling forward, destiny must have its way, can she change what destiny says must be? This book does a good job pulling layers off characters so we can see what they are really wanting.

Can not wait to finish the trilogy.

excellent start to a series

Characters in this book were well developed and the entire story line was laid out. Great world building and a few new takes on vampire lore.

I enjoyed the unfolding, learning along with Crystal the story of her parents the oh so fantastic super power she holds. (delicious food for vampires that can not get enough). And as an anomalie she must die.

Was it an accident? Was it love, lust, revenge? Nothing is better, nor more deadly than a group of close friends. Excellent look at an investigation into a crime, that does not even appear to be a crime. I really enjoyed listening to this story, plenty of good twists and turns.

Don't get me wrong I enjoyed it, but at times it felt like she was selling songs. The interview style was a great way that it could be more spontaneous, but there were so many other questions I wanted answered but it was what it was. I wish there had been more music.

Toxic love

Wow this books takes you on a rough and tumble trip. Love, lust, drugs, obsession, money which is most important? Which will win?

This series is intense I find myself loving characters, finding them sympathetic, and hating them all at the same time. I am immersed in their lives and waiting for the next book.

ADHD is so hard

I understand so much of what this mother went through. I raised 3 children on the spectrum the middle one also has ADHD as well. It is heartbreaking when you love with all you have but love is not enough. My children like Tom are all grown now. All 3 are responsible adults with jobs and can pass for neurotypical people. We as a society want to put so much of the blame on mothers. Not on parents, but the focus is always on what mom must have done wrong.

I, like this author, have so many memories of doctors and counselors that all wanted to say it was me, my childhood messed up my children.

For any parent who is in the trenches, this book will help you feel not so alone.

The narration was excellent and kept you in the book.
