Russians in France?
Revisado: 09-04-24
Overall excellent, but a couple accents drove me crazy. None of the accents are French, but the main female character sounds like she's from Russia. I would have rather she had an English accent than a Russian one! it's annoying as heck!

Title doesn't fit content
Revisado: 02-01-24
This book doesn't teach you how to flirt. It tells you about rules when flirting, where to meet men, etc. There's a million books that say the exact same stuff. Also, the author must have had a word count requirement, because she said "moreover" about 500 times. I'm bummed because I can't return this book for one that is actually helpful

I can't take it any longer!!!
Revisado: 11-07-23
If I hear the main character say "I don't understand" one more time I will lose my mind! The police are a joke that spike my anxiety with their stupidity. The negative stigma around mental health and mental health professionals is thick throughout these books. The main character said she saw a ghost and her parents took her to a psychologist like she was crazy. The author brings it up constantly! The narrator is horrific. All of the characters sound the same other than the ones that play into stereotypes and racism. One of the policemen grew up in the small Oregon town, yet he occasionally has a New York accent- you know, because he has an Italian last name. The worst one was the old black lady from the first book (forget her name). she was 100+ years old and lived her entire life in the area, yet she had a distinctive southern African-American accent. Because they all sound the same, right? I tried to overlook all of this (and so much more), but I can't keep going with this series. I honestly can't believe the positive reviews

All poop, no progress
Revisado: 05-28-21
I really enjoyed the first five books, although the humor and interaction with the original characters decreases with time. This book had almost no story progression. I only been a month since May Day, but already people are married to strangers, pregnant, growing vegetables from seed, etc. even though all of that is going on, the actual story doesn't move much at all. the majority of the book is repetitive description of bodies being torn apart, organs being spilled, and bones being crushed. I can't tell you how many times I heard penis, balls, and feces. Oh, and "gray matter" about a million times. I get that it's a zombie book and there's going to be a lot of gore, but there has to be some story to go along with the blood and carnage. The narrator is excellent for the most part. The only characters that bothered me were Moe's African sister-in-law who didn't have any kind of an accent and Moe's cousin who was supposedly from the South but had more of a Hawaiian accent. I hate to say it, but I don't think I'll buy the last two books. The repetition and lack of progression is made it really hard to stay interested. As much as I love Moe, he may have to finish this journey without me.

Tried but couldn't finish
Revisado: 04-16-21
I listened to the first book and it was a struggle. The constant and repetitive reminders that Jack and Dee saved each other, looking for each other, etc drove me crazy. I hoped it would get better, but the second book is more of the same. The character development is lacking and I felt no connection to them. there are more references to Dee being petite than there are about who she really was. Jack was supposedly a prepper, but had little to no experience with firearms. The thing that pushed me over the edge was the relentless inner dialog from Dee and Jack about each other. We Get It! You Love each other! Anyway, couldn't hack it anymore. Narration Was Good Though.

Historia
It's been three long years since Deadbreak. That's what everyone's calling it - the day the dead rose. Every day since then, Jeremiah Reid has had one goal: to make his way back to his daughter. With his four-legged companion, Joe, Jeremiah has to travel a lawless wasteland teeming with zombies, bandits, and worse, like people who put anchovies on pizza (you know who you are). It's a new world out there, and no one is safe. People are weary, cities are in ruin, supplies are scarce, and brains are on the menu.

So fun, didn't want it to end!
Revisado: 10-31-20
I really enjoyed this book. I've listened to a lot of post-apocalyptic books and I really enjoyed that this one wasn't all doom and gloom. I loved that the main character had a sense of humor but a strong sense of purpose. I really hope the author writes more books in this genre. I'll be the first in line to buy them!

Through a series of terrible decisions, Jessie realizes she must ask for help. Gargoyle help. Obsessed with appearance
Revisado: 08-26-20
I listened to the first book and it was just meh to me. The MC is annoying and talks incessantly about being divorced and how having a baby ruined her body. I hope she doesn’t say that to her son! Anyway, towards the end of the book something magical happens and suddenly all of her physical “imperfections” are fixed. Her skin is tightened up, evidence of her having a baby are gone, aches and pains disappear, etc. So, everything that made her physically relatable to REAL women was gone.
In the second book she’s a hot mama that more than a few men lusting after her. Odd how that happened after her magical mommy makeover! The first book yammered about how her body was worn out and undesirable. The second book repeatedly mentions how her body is new and improved, tightened up, and every man, both young and old, is drooling over her. Other series I have read from the PWF group have had characters who are real and improve through good old-fashioned hard work. This book sadly reinforces the mindset that many women have, which is that it would take an act of God or magic to get our younger bodies back. You can't set the clock back, ladies!
I won’t be listening to any more of this series. I’ll stick to books with real women who see the signs of aging as battle scars that were hard-earned and something to be proud of.

Historia
It was a day like any other day for Marina Trahan...until she caught her husband in bed with another woman. Before that eye-opening wake-up call, Marina would have described her life as average or uneventful, maybe even boring. But now, chaos and confusion reign supreme. She’d expected to slide through midlife with her unwanted extra pounds, chin hair, and hot flashes and move somewhat gracefully into elastic-waist pants and having no verbal filter.

Had so much potential
Revisado: 06-10-20
This story had so much potential. It is almost 10 hours long, yet I still don’t really understand what it was about. The paranormal aspect of the book was vague and played a very minor part in the story. The vast majority of the book is about Marina’s family and personal drama. There were aspects of the story that needed more detail. I felt like I didn’t really know Luke at all. He was just a good-looking former attorney turned game warden. Did he have no life before moving to their town? Why didn’t they request a change of venue for Avery’s hearing and possible trial. There was a huge conflict of interests going on there! In what way was the world going to be destroyed and how did Marina’s “powers” fit into that? What were her powers? Wasn’t it just the ring that they were looking for? Did Zeus send the stalker and where did the stalker go? Maybe these issues were addressed, but not in enough detail for me to remember. There were too many reflections on the past and not enough present day story line/action. I loved several of the characters. I loved her sister Falcyon, Adelaide and Dottie. I even loved Marina’s dog Snooze. I think Jana DeLeon is a talented writer, but this book just didn’t do it for me. Overall, I was disappointed. I hope the next book makes up for what this one is lacking.

Historia
"Happily Ever After" wasn't supposed to come with a do-over option. But when my husband of 20 years packs up and heads for greener pastures, and my son heads away to college, that's exactly what my midlife becomes. A do-over. This time, though, I plan to do things differently. Age is just a number, after all, and at 40 I'm ready to carve my own path. Eager for a fresh start, I make a somewhat unorthodox decision and move to a tiny town in the Sierra foothills.

Not every woman has been married and wronged.
Revisado: 05-20-20
I really enjoyed this book and loved the characters. I've been looking forward to reading the PWF books, as the heroines are all above 40. I just turned 40, so it's a nice reminder that my life isn't completely downhill from here!
One thing I noticed from reading the synopsis of the books is that all of the heroines are divorced or have been married. I'm glad these authors are tackling an age group of women that isn't represented enough in romance novels, but doesn't it kind of feed into stereotypes that all of these women have been married? It seems like all of the heroines have given their lives to their husbands and kids, so now they get somewhat of a re-do and a chance at their happily ever after. A middle-aged woman who has never been married has lost her bloom and doesn't deserve a love story as much as a scorned divorcee does. But, hey! She might find love if she adopts a puppy! I'd love to see the woman who never thought she'd find love catch a break in the paranormal world!

This is Peter's story. I won't give up much. Let's just say that it's hard not to love Peter by the end of this novella. Everyone has the capacity to grow, learn, love, and become a better person. Peter is the perfect example of that. Loved this novella 💕
