Historia
The New York Times bestselling author of Up in the Air and Blood Will Out embarks on a journey that begins with the death of his mother - and ends in an inexplicable spiritual awakening. After the utter grief of taking his mother off life support, Walter Kirn is compelled to understand his recurring visions of a Native American holy site. With his children and girlfriend, he follows them. In opening himself up to the mysticism he sees in religion, music, and nature, Walter discovers something magical and transcendent: solidarity and solace in the world around him.

A brilliant story that pulls you in.
Revisado: 08-01-18
Another brilliantly written tale by Walter Kirn.
This story is vividly descriptive and pulls the listener into the narrative with it's personal, highly emotive style. Mr. Kirn reads his work and conveys the feeling of loss and of the almost mystical events surrounding a very personal event in a way that brings the listener into the tale. You can almost hear the crows as the story unfolds.

Historia
Cicero's Stoic Paradoxes is a brilliant and accessible summary of the six major ethical beliefs of Stoicism. The nature of moral goodness, the possession of virtue, good and bad conduct, the transcendence of wisdom, and the sources of real wealth are all discussed with the author's characteristic intensity and wit. This is the only existing modern translation of this little-known classic, as well as the most detailed study. Translator Quintus Curtius has returned to the original Latin texts to provide a modern, fresh interpretation of these forgotten classics.

An outstanding telling of Cicero's essays.
Revisado: 06-20-18
Quintus Curtius always delivers a true to the original telling of the classics. Stoic Paradoxes continues his tradition of well sourced and compellingly told translations. The narrator was clear, concise and brought a classical lilt to the words of Cicero. Any fan of classical literature and philosophy will enjoy this book.
