it was excellent, though the music that plays between chapters I could do without, it's a little jarring.

I like the authors, I liked the story. The performance was only just acceptable.
I know humans have different accents and the narrator can only do what he is capable of, but was is something incredibly jarring about the strong british pronunciation and particularly odd voice given to a certain main character who captains a ship.
