Historia
In the jungles of Aztlan a deadly war of the shadows is being fought. And the Imperial Guard are losing. The alien t’au, though few in number, greatly outclass the soldiers of the Imperium and are taking a serious toll on their forces. A call for aid is answered by the fearsome Mortifactors Chapter, who come to the world full of grim purpose. Adoni, an unblooded neophyte yet to earn his place, is amongst the war party. As the Mortifactors descend into the jungle vastness, they hunt for a killer, one that will not die easily but that whom Adoni must slay if he is to become part of the Chapter and a Taker of Heads.

Grim.
Revisado: 06-24-19
Comparatively speaking, I've found the mature themes in this particular story to be far and above the status quo for for what is typical for the Warhammer franchise. Personally, I find it refreshing. Others with more delicate sensibilities would be well advised to avoid this title as 'Taker' has all the brutality a fan can expect from the 40k universe, and then some.

"This makes me smile."
Revisado: 05-26-19
'Helsreach' was recommended to me as a first dive into the 40k universe. Good thing, as I'm Very much a fan after finishing this experience and will probably be quoting some of the lines in this story for the rest of the week. The fan made movie of this book is probably better than anything professional that GW has commissioned and is worthy of one's attention, too.

As 'Young Adult Fantasy' as it gets
Revisado: 05-26-19
The headline of this review should tell you all that you need to know.
More cookie cutter fantasy that hits all the tropes, is painfully cliched, and has little of anything new to offer the imagination.
Some will likely find this category of fantasy enticing, but for those wanting a little more grit, look elsewhere.

Things could be worse, of course. Their employer could be lying dead on the floor while they are forced to watch the killer plant evidence framing them for the murder. Oh wait, that's exactly what's happening. Now a royal conspiracy is about to unfold in the most corrupt city in the world.

OMG!
You guys, this book changed my life. It was not what I expected and DIDN'T disappoint me. I also can't wait for the next book where we finally learn if [clothing as a plot device] is actually [protagonist claims virtue through exposition] and exposes [Narrative driven by stacking Macguffins] as [magic and shiiiiiet]. I love this series so much. They should really make this into a movie!
