I love to listen while riding on the trail, and when I get back my husband and I re-listen to what I heard. Mrs. Obama wrote this book in such a beautiful way, weaving all of the details and facts of her life smoothly together. I honestly did not mind the slow pace as it gave me time to think of the impact of her words, but anyone is welcome to increase the speed. Either way you will be glad to have read this well written, insightful, and at times painfully raw personal memoir of a life well survived and thrived.

I soaked in so many of Lori’s wise words to her clients, as well as words to herself. As she self-reveals with her therapist, it is clear that we all could benefit, every once in while, from someone to talk to. As it dawned on me that the (excellent) narrator was reading the last page of the book, I felt the anxiety of the last visit with your therapist as she described. So well done Ms. Gotlieb!

This book was featured on was written through the hand of a man who wanted to delight in his sexist chauvinist fantasies and bore us with all the details. I kept listening all the way through to find the hook or the draw or some redeeming quality, but even the ending was flat and disappointing.
