NOT BAD FOR A KID FROM THE SOUTH BRONX

Me? I went to PS 48......at Spofford and Faile. Our apartment was at Barretto and Spofford, right across from the Spofford Detention Center....a lousy place to be but a great place to wander through while it was being built. Al, you're about 6 years older than I am. And I moved away (as if it was my choice) when I was 12. But....there was something above your voice, your attitude, that just seemed like home. I loved your book, funny, smart, rambling, intimate. I now live a few blocks from the Museum of Natural History and one night I took a walk over there to watch them inflate the Thanksgiving Day balloons. You were on my iPhone, telling your stories. It was great fun. And I thought you should know about it. Thank you.

And that would have been if Irwin had read it himself. Not that there is anything wrong with the narrator, far from it. The book is funny, smart, filled with cultural references with which we are all familiar. I'm waiting for volume 2 and 3. First rate.
