Historia
From the day that old Nana Reja found a baby abandoned under a bridge, the life of a small Mexican town forever changed. Disfigured and covered in a blanket of bees, little Simonopio is for some locals the stuff of superstition, a child kissed by the devil. But he is welcomed by landowners Francisco and Beatriz Morales, who adopt him and care for him. As he grows up, Simonopio becomes a cause for wonder to the Morales family, because when the uncannily gifted child closes his eyes, he can see what no one else can - visions of all that’s yet to come, both beautiful and dangerous.

Not for me
Revisado: 03-05-20
I was excited to listen to this book given the reviews, but I could not finish listening to it. The readers were extremely difficult to understand and follow. The story was OK. Might be worth trying in print, not audio.

Historia
We were fighting on the wrong side of a war we couldn't win. And that was the good news. The Ruhar hit us on Columbus Day. There we were, innocently drifting along the cosmos on our little blue marble, like the native Americans in 1492. Over the horizon come ships of a technologically advanced, aggressive culture, and BAM! There go the good old days, when humans only got killed by each other. So, Columbus Day. It fits. When the morning sky twinkled again, this time with Kristang starships jumping in to hammer the Ruhar, we thought we were saved.

Narration kills a good book
Revisado: 06-02-16
The story itself is very good, but the reader is awful. His sighs, speaking too close to the mic so you hear every lip smack, mispronunciation of common words & attempts at voice changes per character are distracting and annoying. Jim Butcher writes a wonderful entertaining captivating story, but get a different narrator! I hoped time would improve his reading as this is the third book I've listened too, but I'll buy the paper copies instead for the remainder.

Revisado: 07-06-12
Would you listen to The Ruling Sea again? Why?
I dont tend to re-read/listen.
What other book might you compare The Ruling Sea to and why?
Lies of Locke Lamora. They are both large stories with many well developed characters. The same narator also helps.
Which character – as performed by Michael Page – was your favorite?
Hercole (sp?)
Any additional comments?
Just that it is a great book. very entertaining with a lot of well developed characters and suspense.
