Be advised, the beginning of this book is going to confuse the hell out of you. Because that's what it did to me.
From the start it is apparent that there are characters and whole adventures that you won't have a clue about. Somehow neither the author nor Audible thought to mention to us, the readers/listeners, that the Full Metal Superhero series is part of a shared universe with the Superhero by Night(Wraith) series. As best as I can tell the two series started crossing over in book four of the Wraith books.
Now I have no problem with book series crossing over. I do however take issue with the fact that to understand what's going on in the last book of a nine book series I need to stop and go read a completely different series by the same author.
Preferably this should be labelled as being both Full Metal Superhero Book 9 and "Crossover Hero Series" Book 2? 3? or something to that effect. That way at least you know what books you need to get the full story. At the very least there should be a warning disclaimer.

Seriously, this pisses me off. I literally had to stop listening and go do research to figure out why in the hell nothing made sense. Now I'm going to have to start another series just to finish this one.

Not that funny.

I was expecting something funny like D List Supervillain or Don't Tell My Parents I'm a Supervillain. This just wasn't funny at all. It was just the ramblings of a moron without much of a payoff at the end.

Very frustrating. Mediocre at best.

Honestly I struggled to finish the box set(first three books). This series feels like it started out as some sort of fanfiction and was turned into a Young Adult series.

From the very start this world makes no sense. And yes, I understand the concept "suspension of disbelief " but somewhat realistic reactions and motivations do matter.

After the hero receives his powers where is the government? An event like that should have drawn in the various state and federal government agencies like flies to honey. Instead we get an overtly complicated plot to secure the hero's services. Heck, where are all of the foreign governments as well as the multinational corporations who would be interested in learning more about the hero's powers and their source.

Where is the chaos that should be falling on that town? The author kind of got the hate group right. But where are the other groups? The screaming fanboys and fangirls? The inevitable religious cults seeing him as a new messiah? The UFO cults seeing him as a messianic messenger? The established religious groups denouncing him as a devil or false messiah?
Where are the townspeople who are suddenly afraid of the hero? The folks who leave when he enters a building? The parents who pull their kids from school or forbid them from associating with the freak? Heck, where are the friends and neighbors who support the hero but decide to move because their family's safety is more important? Instead we get an unrealistic town where life mostly goes on as usual.

The choices made by the "light" side make no sense. Why not tell the hero about all of his powers, or at least that he has more than what first manifested? Especially when the villians have the same powers already. He's not going to win if they intentionally hinder his ability to fight.
So what if they had a previous hero go bad, choose better next time.

Honestly, unless you plan on buying it on sale. You probably want to skip this one. I hate leaving things hanging. In fact I'm a completist on an almost OCD level and at this point even I don't want to finish this series.

Not worth the money.

The start was promising and I wanted to like it but... it went downhill really fast. The main character has an over the top ego that is rather cringeworthy and the rest of the characters are pretty much just stereotypes. Mostly the story is just predictable and well, childish.

Seriously, take the warning about mature content and a harem situation to heart. The sex scenes sound like they were written by a horny teenager and they go on for way way too damned long. Hell the actual story ends a full half hour before the book ends. That last half hour is nothing but a cringe inducing threesome sex scene. It was bad enough I had to use the skip forward button for most of the sex scenes.

I honestly wish I hadn't picked this one up, but sadly I did. So now I'm just thankful that I picked it up on sale and didn't pay full price for this.

Loved it.
Pure fun in audio form and the narrators are exceptional. I'm seriously hoping the author turns this into a series...

It is a wonderfully silly story. Adam's narration is beyond amazing. It's spectacular. Loved it.
