Historia
Exploring the rich depths of the history of Recluce, Magi'i introduced Lorn, a talented boy born into a family of Magi'i. A fastidious student mage who lacked blind devotion, Lorn was made into a lancer officer and shipped off to the frontier. Having survived an extended stint fighting both barbarian raiders and the giant beasts of the Accursed Forest, Lorn has proven himself to be a fine officer - perhaps too fine an officer. As his prowess has grown, so has his number of enemies and rivals.

Historia
Magi'i of Cyador marks the beginning of a new tale from deep within the rich depths of the history of Recluce. This is the story of Lorn, a talented boy born into a family of Magi'i. A diligent student of remarkable talent, Lorn lacks only the single most coveted attribute required of a Magus of Cyador: Unquestionable loyalty. Lorn is too independent for his own good. So Lorn is forced to become a lancer officer, and he's sent to the frontier to fight off the all-too-frequent barbarian raids.

Excellent well written Story
Revisado: 03-23-21
Many reviewers have not liked the Narrator of this book. I agree, the change did bother me in the beginning. Luckily for me I read the reviews of this novel and chose to Listen to the 4 books in the prequel. I guess you would call it a prequel. So the changes in voices, style and cadence didn't bother me as much. What did bother me is the change in pronunciation of very key, words and names. To me that is unacceptable. It doesn't take very much time for the producers find out the correct pronunciation. Unless they did check with the author, and Mr. Gardner has pronounced the words and names wrong. If that is the case I say to late. Its been said wrong (our correct way) for more then 10 Novels. Don't change what we have already loved.

Exceptional. Simply Exceptional.
Revisado: 12-02-20
I have read this book several times during my life. I read this once as a teenager in school, once again as young man, father, husband and again as newly crowned empty nester. My opinion on the importance of this book has changed through out the years. As a teenager. I thought it was interesting, and yet no big deal. It had no profound impact on myself. As a young man I felt some of the tension the author felt, I was with him, looking through his eyes at a world I had learned to try to protect my kids and shield them from the hurt and pain. Knowing things would get better. And now as an empty nester. After reading it again, I understand by recent events this novel is still relevent. Especially the added portions from 1976 that I had not read previously.

Historia
From the time he was a boy in Georgia, LC Duncan, patriarch and leader of the Duncan clan, has battled racism. Even now that he and his family are truly successful, the racism can still be in-your-face. Maybe it's the political climate or perhaps it's just bad timing, but LC and the rest of the Duncans are being challenged by the ultimate power-hungry racist, Sheriff KD Shrugs.

Historia
The Charisian Empire, born in war, has always known it must fight for its very survival. What most of its subjects don’t know even now, however, is how much more it’s fighting for. Emperor Cayleb, Empress Sharleyan, Merlin Athrawes, and their innermost circle of most trusted advisers do know. And because they do, they know the penalty if they lose will be far worse than their own deaths and the destruction of all they know and love.

The voice of the narrator is exceptional .
Revisado: 05-13-19
The voice of the narrator is exceptional, it is warm when needed and harsh at t bbc one times as well. Makes me close my eyes lean back in my chair and I can feel the spoken words create images in my mind transforming those images into a movie in my mind. Well done. Also the story is not bad either.

Hmmm Don't understand yet
Revisado: 05-08-19
Hmmmm Don't quite understand what this middle road trilogy is a lot out. I understood the first 3 novels told us the end story with a small chance of an after story still open. The second set of 3 novels as the beginning, but this set I am still confused.
