Solid Assassin Story.
Revisado: 01-08-23
I love Assassin books. I read all of them. This one is good. It’s not the type you stay up all night to read but it’s a solid, well paced book. Good use of skills, hand to hand and weapons. The assassin is vulnerable but strong, not like a superhero but someone at the top of their trade. I recommend and look forward to the rest in the series.

Stirringly evocative, thought provoking, and often jaw dropping, The Operator ranges across SEAL Team Operator Robert O'Neill's awe-inspiring 400-mission career that included his involvement in attempts to rescue "Lone Survivor" Marcus Luttrell and abducted-by-Somali-pirates Captain Richard Phillips and culminated in those famous three shots that dispatched the world's most wanted terrorist, Osama bin Laden.

If you like action genre, this ticks all the boxes. Good story, great characters, vivid action sequences. I read 2 of the books in this series, so far I’m impressed. Worth a credit imo.

If you like action and can suspend disbelief a bit, this book is for you. I enjoyed it very much. Good narration, great characters. My type of book. I will get all in this series. There may be 1 or 2 people like this in the World but I doubt it so don’t expect too much reality but good non the less.

Historia
In 2007, a short blogpost by Gawker Media outed PayPal founder and billionaire investor Peter Thiel as gay. Thiel's sexuality had been known to close friends and family, but he didn't consider himself a public figure, and believed the information was private. This post would be the casus belli for a meticulously plotted conspiracy that would end nearly a decade later with a $140 million dollar judgment against Gawker and its bankruptcy. Only later would the world learn that Gawker's demise was not incidental - it had been masterminded by Thiel.

Great story, atrocious narration from a snowflake.
Revisado: 04-15-18
What did you like best about Conspiracy? What did you like least?
What I liked best is the actual story of Thiel Vs. Gawker. Was compelling and told well. What I liked the least is that he injected his Trump hate to degrade the story. He makes it seem that anything that comes from the right is evil and odd, while the left can't do anything wrong. Also, he tells one side about how the lib papers skewered Thiel, but doesn't talk much about how he became a hero to much of the country because of it. Also, his narration couldn't be worse.
If you’ve listened to books by Ryan Holiday before, how does this one compare?
Never have before.
Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Ryan Holiday?
Anyone, even Miss piggy would have been better.
Was Conspiracy worth the listening time?
Yes
Any additional comments?
It's too bad Trump haters ruin all good things with their hate. If he never mentioned Trump, this would have easily been 5 stars aside from the narration.

What makes a legendary assassin? For John Rain, it was the lessons of love, war, and betrayal he learned in Tokyo in 1972. Fresh from the killing fields of Southeast Asia, Rain works as a bagman under the watchful eye of his CIA handler, delivering cash to corrupt elements of the Japanese government. But when a delivery goes violently wrong, Rain finds himself in the crosshairs of Japan’s most powerful yakuza clan.

Good writing, original story and not really predictable. Really enjoyed it. Would love to see the sequel on audible. I had to speed up the narration a bit but I usually do that or else I start to drift. Probably needs it more so from this reader but not too bad. Overall worth your money or credit.
