With all of the pluck and charm of its eponymous young hero, Rachel McAdams (The Notebook, Spotlight, Midnight in Paris) delivers a spectacular reading of Montgomery's beloved bildungsroman. In moments both funny and bittersweet, McAdams' voice is imbued with the spark that has made Anne a much-loved symbol of individualism and cheer for over a century.

There's no place like home for the holidays ... especially for Lesley Carver. Life in the big city just wasn't her jam and now she's back in Hickory Falls, working at the family diner and helping her mom after she took a tumble. Lesley longs to build a life here, working at the cafe, selling her handmade ornaments and ... er, apparently reviving her high school crush on her best friend’s older brother. Historia
The year is 1901, and the hustle and bustle of the holidays is descending on New York's Fifth Avenue. For the first time in her privileged life, Adelaide Forsythe couldn’t be happier about the prospect of a quiet Christmas. That’s not to say her transition from Missto Mrs. has been without challenge. Though she doesn’t regret marrying for love instead of wealth, she feels woefully unprepared to run her own household. Then, on the first Sunday of Advent, winter winds bring surprising change, first through a young orphan boy and then a seasoned housekeeper who seems too good to be true.

Loved this mini-sequel to the Adelaide and Howard story. I hope there’s more! I love how Austin incorporates the gospel in such an organic way.

Historia
Many of us spend our days feeling like we're the only one with problems, while everyone else has their act together. But the sooner we realize that everyone struggles like we do, the sooner we can show grace to ourselves and others. In Low Anthropology, popular author and theologian David Zahl explores how our ideas about human nature influence our expectations in friendship, work, marriage, and politics.

I think this book might be controversial especially in certain political and religious circles, but if Zahl is right that a low anthropology is the gateway to God, then I think this book is worth reading and considering.

Historia
For many people, words like doctrine and theology cause their eyes to glaze over, or they find them difficult to understand and struggle to see how they are relevant to daily life. But theology is far from boring; it is the study of God and should lead to awe and wonder as we better understand who God is and what he has done for us. In Core Christianity, author, pastor, and theologian Mike Horton tackles the essential and basic beliefs that all Christians share. What is core to the Christian faith?

Great refresher course on Christian do
Revisado: 02-23-24
This is a perfect book to give to new Christians as well as any Christian who feels like they need a refresher course in Christian doctrine and the gospel. Michael Horton presents this information in a simple and approachable way. There are sections I plan to revisit in this book. I may even pick up the physical copy as I can see how it could be helpful.

I really enjoyed this mystery, romance novel. This is a book about redemption, starting over, and facing fears. I liked that. It was more than a romance, but had a interesting mystery to unravel. It definitely kept my attention until the end I thought the narration was very well done

Delightful story bad narration
Revisado: 02-02-24
I thought this was a delightful story about love and books. My favorite part was the descriptions about the roles that books and reading can play in our lives. But the one thing that got in the way for me was the narrator. While most of the book was fine, there was there were several parts where her French accent was so thick that I couldn’t even understand what she was saying. I really hope the publisher takes note about this, as I feel like I missed out on several parts of the book because of it.

Historia
It's nearly Christmas, Julia Devine's favourite time of the year. She's just programmed a wonderful lead into the holidays at Sunny Street Cinema, which leaves her plenty of time to worry about going home to Cumbria for Christmas. Her mum and stepdad are fine, but the thought of spending another holiday with her awful stepsister Becca is enough to make a Scrooge out of anyone. When Becca calls to let her know about the dreamy pilot she's bringing to Christmas lunch, Julia finally snaps and does something very silly.
