Story was sweet, narration was great. I have come to realize that T Kingfisher is one of my favorite authors. I loved this story and it felt good to be back in the world of the Saint of Steel.

Historia
In the world of Warbreaker, each person is born endowed with the power of one Breath―which can be sold and collected by others, then used to Awaken objects and even corpses to do their bidding. A few individuals who die in glory return as gods, with the power of thousands of Breath, but no memory of their mortal lives―and are enthroned in the Court of Gods in Hallandren’s capital. To Vivenna and Siri, princesses of Idris, the abuse of Breath and the claim of the Returned to be gods are repugnant blasphemy.

Great story!
Revisado: 04-12-24
Fantastic story, great characters, wish it was a series. The only thing I didn’t like was the narrator, she wasn’t awful, and it didn’t ruin the story, it was just annoying at times. I’m not sure why, but fantasy stories read in an American accent just don’t sound right to me.

Historia
One of the genre's favorite pairs returns in a classic fantasy short for both Riyria veterans and first-time readers. Several years have passed since the war-weary mercenary Hadrian and cynical ex-assassin Royce joined forces to start their thieves-for-hire organization better known as Riyria. Things have gone well enough for the team as they do "jobs" for various nobles throughout Elan. Usually that means stealing something, but when a young heiress asks them to steal her…well, that's a first for the pair.

Beautiful rendition of the story
Revisado: 07-11-23
The only thing I would say is the narrator’s cadence could sometimes be very robotic sounding and it got annoying at times. Other than that, it was a beautiful telling of this timeless tale.

Disappointing due to narrator
Revisado: 10-13-22
The change of narrators was significant & disturbing.
It would have been easier to deal with if the narrator had a British, Welsh, or Scottish accent, not a nasally American sounding voice. In my own opinion, it took away from the story & I found myself feeling annoyed & wishing I’d have sampled it first, or at the very least read some of the reviews, I didn’t consider they would change to an American narrator, had I anticipated & listened to a sample first, I would have got the ebook instead. I will be trying to return the title. If I can’t, I’ll slog through it but will get the final book as an ebook. I don’t know how narrators are chosen, but this one was a really bad decision.

Historia
Demonstrating once again her gift for spellbinding storytelling, Anne Rice makes real for us a great dynasty of four centuries of witches - a family given to poetry and incest, murder and philosophy, a family that over the ages is itself haunted by a powerful, dangerous, and seductive being called Lasher who haunts the Mayfair women. Moving in time from today's New Orleans and San Francisco to long-ago Amsterdam and the France of Louis XIV, from the coffee plantations of Port-au-Prince to Civil War New Orleans and back to today, Anne Rice has spun a mesmerizing tale.

One of my favorites
Revisado: 01-13-22
I read this book years ago and I still love it. My only issue is with the narrator. She pronounces thing strangely and her accents & voices for different characters are awkward and somewhat annoying. Many of the male characters sound like they’re from New York rather than New Orleans, it is a bit grating. Other than that, I still love the story.

Historia
There is a voice of longing inside each woman. We strive so mightily to be good: good partners, daughters, mothers, employees, and friends. We hope all this striving will make us feel alive. Instead, it leaves us feeling weary, stuck, overwhelmed, and underwhelmed. We look at our lives and wonder: Wasn’t it all supposed to be more beautiful than this? We quickly silence that question, telling ourselves to be grateful, hiding our discontent—even from ourselves.
