For over 70 years Hitler’s most fearsome weapon, Die Glocke (The Bell) has been entombed inside an icy fortress in the most inhospitable and unforgiving place on earth - the Antarctic. When oceanographer Leah Anderson discovers a hidden WWII Nazi submarine base buried deep under the Antarctic ice shelf, she sparks a fierce battle to acquire "The Bell". While Russian and American submarines clash deep below the ice pack, on the surface, a sinister force launches a ruthless assault to secure the infamous weapon they have been searching for since its mysterious disappearance in 1945.

A great adventure featuring a new action hero
Revisado: 08-03-19
I thoroughly enjoyed this story from Robert Williams.
Being a fan of adventures that link historical fact into a modern day story, this was a tale I appreciated.
Williams does a great job of running this historic parts in parallel with present day, revealing enough information to keep the story moving forward without showing us too much to early.
The characters are realistic and engaging, the pace was perfect for me and there was a nice twist in there too.
Narration was done well by Gary Tiedemann who kept a great pace.

Historia
Marked by tragedy, traumatized at the age of eight, Michael, now 18, is no ordinary young man. Besides not uttering a single word in 10 years, he discovers the one thing he can somehow do better than anyone else. Whether it's a locked door without a key, a padlock with no combination, or even an eight hundred-pound safe...he can open them all. It's an unforgivable talent. A talent that will make young Michael a hot commodity with the wrong people.

Why didn't I listen to this years' ago?
Revisado: 06-24-19
I don't give five star reviews, because I always worry that there could be a better book out there. And finally I have found it!
Steve Hamilton always weaves a great story and the main character here, Mike, is one to be treasured. Told in the first person, Mike doesn't speak, but through his illustrations and notes, takes us through his life from high school to present day and the events that dragged him into his life of crime.
Underneath all of this is a secret that is exposed to us at the end and puts everything into perspective.
I found the plot engrossing, the characters fascinating and the narration spot on throughout and whilst I don't agree with his career choice, I had empathy for him all the way through.
I just wish I had found this Steve Hamilton story many years ago.

Historia
A military unit is thrust back into Paleolithic times with only their guns and portable hardware. Ten soldiers on convoy in Afghanistan suddenly find themselves lost in time. Somehow they arrived in Earth's Paleolithic Asia. With no idea how they arrived or how to get back, the shock of the event is severe. They discover groups of the similarly displaced: imperial Romans, Neolithic Europeans, and a small cadre of East Indian peasants.

Interesting concept but not for everybody
Revisado: 06-24-19
I find myself a bit betwixt and between on this book. On one hand I enjoyed the premise of a group of soldiers being pushed back 15000 years in time and their struggle to survive in a world where they have no survival experience.
On the other hand, the story doesn't follow a traditional plot where the protagonists encounter major hurdle after major hurdle on their way to whatever resolution there is, although you could argue that trying to survive in a world vastly different to their own is hurdle enough. But it does sort of meander along.
Like some other reviewers I was a bit tired of the sexual content and the fear of rape that the women experience, whether that is valid or not.
The narrator does a reasonable job, although I felt that the break between sections/chapters was sometimes too short and it took me a few seconds to realise we had moved on.
Finally, at 22 hours you need to be committed to this book. I was as I really wanted to see how it resolved and whilst I was glad of the positive outcome, I would have like to have understood more about how the event actually happened.

Historia
Five years ago, the US Space Force became a reality. And while those writing the checks took things very seriously, the other military branches did not. As a result, Space Force was populated by undesirables. My name is Captain Ethan Stone, a decorated member of SEAL Team Six turned Space Force "recruit". Flash forward five years and between tenses. President West is in office. Power has shifted. And Space Force is defunded. With just a handful of us still living on base, we find ourselves being evicted. But before all of us can leave, aliens invade.

Great fast-paced space romp!
Revisado: 05-28-19
This is a silly, laugh out loud space romp from the irrepressible Jeremy Robinson. Unlike any of the other novels I have listened to by Robinson, this story pokes fun at itself and many of the stereotypical sci-fi novels out there.
Space Force are a bunch of no-hoper special forces reprobates who unwittingly find themselves fighting for the future of planet earth. The challenge takes the form of a computer game style battle, but the stakes are higher - once you're dead, you're dead!
This story is very well written, the characters are well crafted and each have a great backstory. I won't spoil the story, but there are some great characters in the book including a kick-ass bus driver!
Jeffrey Kafer, Emily Woo Zeller and Machelle Williams do a great job of narration and keep the pace moving well.

Insomnia is a collection of eight exciting short stories (plus one bonus story) that tackle several different genres including action, science-fiction, horror, noir, and thriller. Written by best-selling author, Jeremy Robinson, these stories include all of the action, imagination, and twists that fans have come to expect, but they also contain experiments into subjects and voices not normally touched on in his novels.

A nice collection of stories
Revisado: 05-28-19
This is an interesting collection of short stories, and whilst I found a number of them interesting and engaging, they didn't resonate with me the way Jeremy Robinson's full length novels do. Having said that, this collection, contains stories of varying genres that Robinson doesn't usually touch on which shows a different side to him.
At the conclusion of each story Robinson gives us some insight into how the idea came about and I found myself connecting with some of the underlying phobias myself.
Dan Delgado does a good job of the narration and kept good pace throughout.
Whilst it won't go down as my favourite Jeremy Robinson read, it is certainly worth a listen.

A thoroughly enjoyable book!
Revisado: 04-24-19
I thoroughly enjoyed this book and found myself wanting more at the end.
The plot is well developed, unique and has a setting, Idaho, that I hadn't seen before.
The characters are believable and well developed. Each has their own distinct back story and work well together, even the "not so friendly" ones.
Another reviewer mentioned that fans of Cussler, Rollins, Preston & Child would like this book, and they are totally correct. Fans of thrillers with a blend of fact and supernatural will very much enjoy Ancient Echos.
Tim Paige did a great job of the narration, keeping a good pace and managing the separation between characters well.

Enjoyable, but didn't give me the buzz I expected
Revisado: 03-08-19
I enjoyed this story, thought it was very well narrated by Andrew Wehrlen, but it didn't evoke strong emotions in me as I progressed through it.
The book is well written and I related to a number of the characters, but at the end found that the one character that appeared least seems to be the key to the second installment, which makes me wonder how some of the initial characters will carry through.
Obviously an interesting take on the alien invasion story and if I see the second installment at a reasonable price, would definitely purchase it.

Great romp, but I'm ready for the ending now!
Revisado: 01-10-19
This is another tremendous Jake Bible romp. I love the characters, settings and the way these Roak stories roll along. There is plenty of fun dialogue, character conflict and action. I especially like Yellow Eyes and his unnervingly cool demeanor.
As always the book is superbly narrated by Andrew B Wehrlen.
Whilst I am looking for a conclusion to Roak's current financial woes, I love the way Jake Bible continues to tease us and seamlessly draws in characters from his other novels. Looking forward to see how Denman Sno and the hunt for Pol Hammon adds to the storyline.

Pilgrimage is a stand-alone post-apocalyptic story of survival. It was previously published as three separate novellas: Crossing, Refuge, and Advent. High School teacher James Rockwell is vacationing in Maine with his family, when an earth-changing explosion sends them on a race for their lives. Their first step is escaping an island in the midst of a tsunami, and it only gets more dangerous from there. Can they find their way home as civilization crumbles around them? And if they do, what horrors will they find?

A good listen, but not my favourite Tom Abrahams
Revisado: 11-24-18
I have been a real fan of Marcus Battle in Tom Abrahams' "The Traveler" series and was perhaps expecting a lot from this book. Whilst I love the whole post-apocalypse genre, this story just didn't resonate with me the way I was hoping.
The characters are solid, I enjoyed the initial setting and the challenges James Rockwell and his family faced, but from there, for me, society degerated much too quickly and too much happened in the space of just a few days which left me struggling to believe.
Kevin Pierce does a great job in narration and keep the pace appropriate.
