Historia
Dr. Anya Molokova, a child psychiatrist, is called in to work at MacNeice House, an adolescent mental health treatment center. There she is told to observe and assess Alex Connolly, a keenly intelligent, sensitive ten-year-old coping with his mother's latest suicide attempt. Alex is in need of serious counseling: He has been harming himself and others, often during blackouts. At the root of his destructive behavior, Alex claims, is his imaginary "friend" Ruen, a cunning demon who urges Alex to bend to his often violent will.

Great except for the ending

She had me right up till the conclusion. Red Herring Alert. Talk about an unreliable POV

Historia
The folks in Mike Erikson's small New England town would say he's just your average, everyday guy. And that's exactly how Mike likes it. Sure, the life he's chosen isn't much of a challenge to someone with his unique gifts, but he's content with his quiet and peaceful existence. That is, until an old friend presents him with an irresistible mystery, one that Mike is uniquely qualified to solve.

It's hard for a book to keep my attention. I'm always happy when I find one that does.
Revisado: 07-09-15
It kept me wondering through most of the story. I found myself chuckling and being intrigued at the same time. Always a good sign! this qualifies as a page turner. I don't like to tell the story. So I will just say I would recommend this for anyone who wants to sit in their and be glad.

Historia
Why we think it’s a great listen: Some books are meant to be read; others are meant to be heard – Water for Elephants falls into the second group, and is one of the best examples we have of how a powerful performance enhances a great story. Nonagenarian Jacob Jankowski reflects back on his wild and wondrous days with a circus. It's the Depression Era and Jacob, finding himself parentless and penniless, joins the Benzini Brothers Most Spectacular Show on Earth.

The narration enhances an already excellent story
Revisado: 12-28-06
Water for Elephants has all the elements of great fiction. It transports a reader to the facinating life of a traveling circus..and at the same time, beautifully and insightfully speaks to the one thing we all have in common one way or another....growing old. But, what really sets this audiobook apart, is the deliciously cantankerous narration of the aging Jacob who brings his chapters alive when juxtaposed to the rest of this wonderful story. His voice growls and gurgles with the richness of a long long life.
