A great story through a pilots career
Revisado: 06-25-21
I truly enjoyed reading the ramp up of a navy flyers training told from the perspective of both student and teacher. The characters were portrayed as very real people, both flawed and compelling. excellent technical writing and flying depictions. Top Gun type plot, a bit shallow but moves the story along at a good pace. Its a keeper. Time to dust off Flight of The Intruder again!

Historia
After Eric Davis spent over 16 years in the military, including a decade in the SEAL teams, his family was more than used to his absence on deployments and secret missions that could obscure his whereabouts for months at a time. Without a father figure in his own life since the age of 15, Eric was desperate to maintain the bonds he'd fought so hard to forge when his children were young - particularly with his son, Jason, because he knew how difficult it was to face the challenge of becoming a man on one's own.

Great book for big paranting concepts
Revisado: 10-10-18
Took a while to understand the style the author was going for but once you get how he is teaching the fundamental mindsets, it flows. I would recommend this book to all fathers. only criticism is the narrator sounds like and reads it like a Clancy novel, sorta corny at first. you get used to it.

Historia
Before the ink was dry on the U.S. Constitution, the establishment of a permanent military had become the most divisive issue facing the new government. Would a standing army be the thin end of dictatorship? Would a navy protect American commerce against the Mediterranean pirates, or drain the treasury and provoke hostilities with the great powers? The founders, particularly Jefferson, Madison, and Adams, debated these questions fiercely and switched sides more than once.

Historia
It is the most famous military installation in the world. And it doesn't exist. Located a mere s75 miles outside of Las Vegas in Nevada's desert, the base has never been acknowledged by the US government - but Area 51 has captivated imaginations for decades. Annie Jacobsen had exclusive access to 19 men who served the base proudly and secretly for decades and are now aged 75-92, and unprecedented access to 55 additional military and intelligence personnel, scientists, pilots, and engineers linked to the secret base, 32 of whom lived and worked there for extended periods.

Interesting but unfocused.
Revisado: 07-12-17
The book mainly follows the development and operational history of the most widely known spyplane tech. It ties into Area 51 as the projects home base, with a few stories of what it was like to work at the location, but stops there. It wraps up with a very thin theory based off a "Mr. X" personal expose. I have read other titles from this author and have been impressed with her other work. This book seems a mash-up of investigations that shoot off of into Area 51 rather than a deep dive into its mystique.

Great collection of sea stories
Revisado: 01-13-17
Good stories, well researched. I really enjoyed the read. small note: the stories were a bit disjointed, some told 3rd person, some 1st, some switched without a smooth transition. Maybe a paper read would have made the blending better.
