Abi Logan and her partner, Grant MacEwan, are looking forward to a romantic weekend on a remote island off the coast of Scotland until the ghost of a 15th-century monk appears on the scene, leaving a trail of victims in his wake. The Scottish call this kind of apparition eldritch–weird, ghostly, and sinister. Abi couldn’t agree more, though, unlike the locals, she’s sure this is no spirit of the dead, but a real live person who seems to have a very earthly grudge against Abi, Grant, and their whisky-making host, Neil.

Like a Scooby Doo mystery

I have throughly enjoyed all of the series so far but this one felt a bit like watching a Scooby Doo mystery and the plot seemed a little lacking versus the previous stories. So when Scooby Doo was mentioned in the story I had to chuckle.

Plenty of good listening with four books in one!

Was disappointed

I’m a fan of the Lucas Davenport, Virgil Flowers and Walt Longmire series and thought I would check out this series and was disappointed. I purchased the books 1-4 set and was relieved when they were done. The stories and writing are seemed very rushed and felt as if the storylines were being pushed out to me as fast as possible which did not provide an opportunity to really get a good feel for the attempted character development. I give credit to the narration using the many character voice changes but there were so many it became distracting. The books were not horrible but I will not be purchasing subsequent novels in the series.
