I was itching for a Sebastian York listen and figured I'd try a new to me author as well as a new to me female narrator. Unfortunately, this wasn't the book I should have tried, even Sebyo couldn't save this story. I wasn't a fan of the female narrator, or the female character.

Audio isn't the way to go for me
Revisado: 08-30-22
I have to put this as a DNF as an audio book.
Based on all of the positive comments on social media about this book, I'm disappointed that it didn't grab me.
The story line seems very promising but unfortunately, the narration is not working for me. I'll probably end up completing this as a visual read because the narration just was not working for me. I've listened to other books with this narrator and enjoyed them but this was fell flat.

Historia
House-flipping sensation and YouTube star Maggie Nichols can’t wait to dig into her next challenge. Arriving in tiny Kinship, Idaho, with only a cot and a coffeemaker, Maggie is prepared to restore a crumbling Victorian mansion in four months or less. She has her to-do lists, her blueprints, and her team. What she doesn’t have is time for sexy, laid-back landscaper Silas Wright. The man takes flirtation to a whole new level. And he does it shirtless...sometimes pants-less. He’s the wrench in her carefully constructed plans.

Didn't Grab Me the Way I Thought it Would
Revisado: 08-30-22
It took me about a month to finish this. I'm a fan of both Lucy Score and Emma Wilder, but this isn't one of my favs of either of their works.
The story line was good, but it dragged out a bit too long. With so may characters and one narrator, it was was difficult at times to keep track of which character was speaking.

Not the Book for Me
Revisado: 08-15-22
Since this was a short listen, I decided to give this book a try to fill in some empty time. The story-line was okay. The narrator didn't fit age of the character so I sometimes felt like I was listening to a "Hardy Boys/Nancy Drew" story.
Again, maybe I'm not the target age for this particular book. It seems like this would be better enjoyed by someone in their late teens-mid twenties.

Might Have Been Better as a Read
Revisado: 02-08-22
This is a new author, as well as new narrators for me. I think I may have enjoyed this more if I had read it as opposed to listened to it.
This is book one about the Valentine Brothers, a wealthy group of African American brothers who are among Chicago's most eligible bachelors. This story focuses on the eldest brother Hunter, and Corrine who has just moved to the area.
The story seemed good but I couldn't connect with both narrators. I enjoyed the male narrator. The female narrator felt more like she was reading to me. I like narration that feels like the narrator is acting the part. I looked her up and it seems that this might be one of her earlier works, so I think I'm going to find some of her more recent works and see if her style has changed.
This was a dual POV told in third person, but I felt like the story was heavy on Corrine's POV. The chapters are titled by the character and at times it seemed like one character was giving the perspective of the other which was confusing.
I think I'm interested in the stories of the remaining Valentine Men, but I might try reading those.

Historia
I’ve been best friends with Beacon since we were kids. We shared everything, even our first kiss. Now that we’re adults, Beacon’s been cockblocking me on my quest to find Mr. Right. No matter how hard I try to find love, he’s always getting in the way. My shy, awkward exterior doesn’t help. After all, Beacon’s the cool one, not me - I play the cello at Carnegie Hall, and He’s a heartthrob. The famous frontman of the band famous Too Far From Grace. Every woman wants him, every guy...either wants to be like him or wants him too.

The Narrators Saved this Story
Revisado: 01-25-22
I love this series, and loved all of the stories until I got to Beacon's story.
Beacon is definitely my least favorite brother. The arrogance on this guy was just over the top. No to mention he could just to EVERYTHING. He's a musician, he's a chef, he's a secret agent, he can kick everyone's ass...Just too much I can't decide if he was written to be disliked or adored. I think a lot of the attitude came from being the youngest, always being referred to as "the kid", having crappy parents, so over compensation was inevitable..but...eh. Olivia wasn't as bad, but she was close. She's the "Beacon Whisperer", a prodigy, and a secret agent. these were not two of my favorite characters in this series.
If it hadn't been for my love of both narrators, I don't know that I would have finished this book. As it was, I had to leave it a few times and come back to it.
Despite this particular book, this still a good series.

Great Workday Listen
Revisado: 12-22-20
This is my first Kayley Loring book and I really enjoyed it. Connor and Mackenzie's narration was amazing and their chemistry was really good. I liked the storyline and I really liked that the character turned out to be nothing like I thought they would. Declan wasn't uptight and grumpy. He was actually pretty laid back and quite funny. Maddie was unaware but quite feisty. There were some great laugh out loud moments. Quick listen that made my work day fly by.

Pass on Sound Effects
Revisado: 11-18-20
I am a huge Lauren Blakely fan and I love her full cast narrations, but this was a hard listen for me, primarily due to the sound effects. This is may be the third or fourth audio I've listened to with sound effects and I'm just not a fan.
The narration as always was excellent and I'm a fan of every narrator included in book. Although the story was a very quick listen, I enjoyed. it.

Historia
A small town is the last place I ever thought I’d find myself, but I’m desperate to save my failing business, and a mysterious client makes an offer I can’t turn down. She wants me to match her with the man of her dreams, and if I pull it off, she’ll pay me more than I can imagine. But when a cowboy everybody calls “Country” welcomes me to town with a “get lost” and a side of drop-dead gorgeous, well, things get a little more complicated. I mean, what kind of woman wouldn’t go following a guy like that back to his ranch?

This is my second book by this author and I've noticed a pattern of humorous yet very unrealistic situations. This not bad thing, but it's just not for me.

Historia
The list of reasons I should stay away from my neighbor is about as long as his... wrench. He’s a dirty mechanic, he’s a single dad, and he can’t seem to keep his shirt on for more than five minutes. Did I mention his ex-wife is my best friend? Yeah. Reid Riggins is absolutely, one hundred percent, the last person in the world I should get involved with. Even if he is heart-stoppingly gorgeous with strong, powerful hands that could rip my clothes off with ease. Not that I’ve imagined that, of course.

Not Quite What I Though
Revisado: 10-16-20
The story itself did not live up to the title and description. While I enjoy the fantasy of romance I still like some reality. This was a little short on the reality part. I wasn't a fan of either narrator and may have enjoyed it more by actually reading rather than listening. It wasn't horrible but just not my cup of tea.
