YA fantasy romance about an assassin’s redemption
Revisado: 08-29-23
This is a fast paced and adventurous story about a trained assassin. Though realistically shes not a very good assassin lol. The story is mainly about her redemption arc. There is a bit of romance though mostly slow burn and star crossed. I received this audiobook to give an honest review. I really liked this story and would recommend it! The narrator did an incredible job as well.

I didnt expect to like this story so much. It is a contemporary fantasy set in New Jersey following Galen the prince of Syrena and Emma, a supposed human girl. There are multiple point of views and it is suspenseful as we learn about Emma’s true identity. It is a young adult romance and coming of age story.
The audiobook narrator does a good job with the accents and voices. Initially I was not a fan of the jersey accent but then it grew on me and became endearing.

Anti Hero Tragic Backstory
Revisado: 08-10-23
If you watched the Once Upon a Time TV series and loved Regina Mills backstory you would be a fan of this snow white retelling. The story is very short so it might be considered a novella. I was so frustrated with the main characters actions throughout the story but thats also what makes for suspenseful stories. I kept thinking Why doesnt she move on from onyx? But we’ve all been there. Just not the murder part. The romance is just courting and a little flirtation but thats about it.
The audiobook is super short and I really liked the narrator, however their pacing was way too slow for me. I had to put it to 1.5x speed.

Historia
For weeks, he stood by my side, twisting his words into pretty half-truths. He enraptured me with his smooth temptation, leaving no corner of my being untouched. He consumed my mind and my body, then finally claimed my heart for himself. But Caelum’s true identity is terrifying enough to bring me to my knees. Then, I discovered the truth of who he is. Caldris is whispered in the Nothrek wind. The legend we only speak of with hushed words, in shuttered rooms, for fear of drawing his wrath once again.

Liked it but had some issues
Revisado: 06-01-23
Liked these but there were some issues for me. I felt like there was questionable consent involved between the two main characters. The male main character was frustrating to me as he would often be flippant with the female characters valid questions or concerns. The chemistry felt forced between them. I felt The fantasy elements were confusing and not properly explained. I did like the overall fantasy elements of the mate bond. And also liked the protective nature of the male character. I also liked the character development of the female character and how she grew more empowered. I would also consider re reading in text format instead of listening to the audiobook
