I seriously needed a break from the intensity of war torn trauma bonds, and I've been craving some sapphic spice. This book did the trick! Simultaneously precious, hot af, and surprisingly healing. A super sexy masc/femme dynamic with none of the typical toxic bs of queer storytelling.

My only complaint here is that the narrator is quite robotic and seems to struggle with shifting voices. They also read through the sexy scenes pretty quickly and without much feeling. Like it was just another part of the book.

I'll definitely be picking up a hard copy of this book to own. Fantastic little sapphic love story ❤️

I honestly don't know what I was expecting! I met Lauren (the author) at a book con this year and she was just the sweetest, funniest person. I could have chatted with her all day! I never expected such a dark, ominous, riveting, intoxicating story. The layers here are so deep and I really enjoyed the unexpected turns and roller coaster of emotions from one page to the next.

I will say that there is some very intense and descriptive story telling here that left me needing to take a few breaks. To be fair, this isn't necessarily uncommon for me as an exclusive audiobook reader. Clearly I didn't mind it that much lol.

The narration was good! She does a great job of shifting through character voices, but was much easier to listen to at 1.5x speed.

Overall a great read and I'm looking forward to the rest of the series making its way to audiobook!

Honestly my favorite story in the entire series (so far!), but the narrator is awful. It's so insanely over dramatized and the spice scenes are so cringe the way she reads it. I turned up my speed to 1.5x and pushed through and it was just bearable. I'm exclusively audiobook, but I may actually try to read the physical copy of this book so I can actually enjoy it fully.

Truly a joy to see how angry folks seem to be about King sharing his political opinions. An author who has published over 60 novels and hundreds of short stories, many of them on extremely sadistic topics, including the torture and murder of children...but this book has tons of whiny reviews about politics 🤣 Anyway, constant reader here and I love it! For a while I really hated how TV shows and publications were tying the pandemic into fictional stories. I wanted to get away from it!! But this was so well done and actually made sense. If I'm being totally honest, this definitely isn't King's strongest work, but it's relevant and doesn't feel like "just some story".

Justine Lupe is a fun surprise to narrate this title. I'd definitely love to hear her narrate more. I love learning more about Holly from this perspective. A strong female side character that has been masterfully developed into a lead. And as per usual, I love King's nods at his other books. Always my favorite brand of irony. Looks like I'll be heading back to the original trilogy after this!
