Historia
It's Christmastime in 1905 New York City, and for once Molly Murphy Sullivan is looking forward to the approaching holidays. She has a family of her own now: She and Daniel have a baby son, and 12-year-old Bridie is living with them as their ward. As Molly and the children listen to carolers in the street, they hear a lovely voice, the voice of an angel, and see a beggar girl huddled in a doorway, singing "Away in a Manger". Bridie is touched by the girl's ragged clothes and wants to help her out if they can.

Enjoyable, but not as fast paced as previous books
Revisado: 09-24-22
The book is well written and is enjoyable, with plenty of details about late 19th century NY, and a few details about that era that you can learn along the way. While still worth getting it has more space devoted to common life than other previous books in the series, so is a bit slow to start. But once it gets going it's full steam ahead.

Great storyline with intriguing twists
Revisado: 03-21-21
Followig what seems like a fallen hero, made real with personal backstories, the storyline makes for an excellent listen. The "good" guys take enough casualties to make it interesting to see who survives.

Interesting tie to human story
Revisado: 09-23-20
The book is engaging in it's ability to keep your attention by tying tidbits of knowledge and folklore to show how drinks helped with the rise of humanity. The infusion of multiple assides and anecdotes keep it interesting to the end.

A bit pedictable after the first few chapters

Good narration, which made the characters seem real enough. The story is interesting but became somewhat predictable after a few chapters. It could have benefitted from interaction by more than 2 characters.

Historia
Without John C. Houbolt, a mid-level engineer at NASA, Apollo 11 would never have made it to the moon. Top NASA engineers on the project, including Werner Von Braun, strongly advocated for a single, huge spacecraft to travel to the moon, land, and return to Earth. It's the scenario used in 1950s cartoons and horror movies about traveling to outer space. Houbolt had another idea: Lunar Orbit Rendezvous. LOR would link two spacecraft in orbit while the crafts were travelling at 3,600 miles an hour around the moon. His plan was ridiculed and considered unthinkable.
