Historia
Archaeologist Dr. Titus Kennedy has investigated firsthand the discoveries connected to Jesus’ birth, ministry, crucifixion, and resurrection. He has visited and excavated where Jesus walked and examined the artifacts connected to Jesus’ life. Here, he presents a comprehensive overview of the research and findings that illuminate the historicity of Christ as presented in the Bible. As you listen, you’ll be able to decide for yourself whether the evidence confirms the existence of Jesus and determine whether the Gospels are worthy of being approached not as legends but as history.

It is scholarly ave detailed yet highly accessible to a popular audience. It covers a wide spectrum of the most important archaeological finds, explains the impact of their evidence in detail, and responds to critics of the evidence. Highly recommended.

Historia
Although the area had fallen under the dominion of Rome in the first century BCE, it was still a Jewish Kingdom under the Herodian dynasty. The author draws on Christian, Greek, Jewish, and Roman sources to present life in Jerusalem, Judea, and the Galilee, including quotes from scripture, rabbinic sources, and the works of the Alexandrian philosopher Philo and the historian Josephus. Sketches of Jewish Social Life is highly regarded as an authoritative work of history.

Excellent Narration of a Classic
Revisado: 05-07-20
Excellent narration of a classic by a great 19th Century scholar. A great introduction to the Jewish background of the New Testament--yet worthwhile for the consideration of more seasoned scholars. By the Kindle version first and get a bargain PLUS an efficient way to look more closely when you want/need to and to take notes or copy passages into a document.

Historia
The modern apologetics classic that started it all is now completely revised and updated - because the truth of the Bible doesn't change, but its critics do. With the original Evidence That Demands a Verdict, best-selling author Josh McDowell gave Christian audiences the answers they needed to defend their faith against the harshest critics and skeptics. Now, with his son Sean McDowell, Josh McDowell has updated and expanded this classic resource for a new generation. This is a book that invites listeners to bring their doubts.

AN UPDATED CLASSIC...AMAZING IN BREADTH AND DEPTH
Revisado: 06-10-19
This is now my #1 recommendation for anyone wanting to go deeper into their understanding of apologetics. Josh McDowell has been impacting the world through apologetics for nearly 60 years. And his son Sean is a popular seasoned apologist in his own right.
Josh's first edition of this classic was published nearly 50 years ago (1972). As a high school student, I devoured it in the late 70s. Aside from immersing myself in God's Word, it was probably the most instrumental thing that I did to strengthen my faith in order to weather the many storms of life that would come. As a father and son team, they have produced the most solid edition of this book yet. The book is amazing in its breadth and its depth, and yet it is written in such a way as to be accessible by a more popular audience (older high school and up). The narrator is also excellent, and makes this 43 hour audio book pleasing to listen to.

Historia
Over the past hundred years, scholars have attacked the historical truth of the Gospels and argued that they were originally anonymous and filled with contradictions. In The Case for Jesus, Brant Pitre taps in to the wells of Christian scripture, history, and tradition to ask and answer a number of different questions, including: If we don't know who wrote the Gospels, how can we trust them? How are the four Gospels different from other Gospels, such as the lost Gospel of "Q" and the Gospel of Thomas?

A Must Read....or Listen
Revisado: 05-31-19
I just finished listening to Brant Pitre's book _The Case for Jesus_ on Audible. It is absolutely the best thing I have read/listened to in historical Jesus studies--and I have read and listened to a ton. It is very scholarly, featuring a ton of quotes from early church fathers and other ancient works (and top notch scholars) and superb exegesis of difficult passages--BUT so well written that anyone can enjoy it (intentionally written for a popular audience). My new #1 recommendation. It is a must read and/or listen, IMO.
Pitre effectively shows that the most common skeptical arguments against the historicity of the Gospels and the deity of Jesus absolutely fail when stacked up against the evidence.

Historia
In this definitive biography, renowned Bible scholar, Anglican bishop, and best-selling author N. T. Wright offers a radical look at the apostle Paul, illuminating the humanity and remarkable achievements of this intellectual who invented Christian theology - transforming a faith and changing the world. For centuries, Paul, the apostle who "saw the light on the Road to Damascus" and made a miraculous conversion from zealous Pharisee persecutor to devoted follower of Christ, has been one of the church's most widely cited saints.

Interesting and Helpful With Minor Reservations
Revisado: 05-29-19
I thoroughly enjoyed this and gained some important new insights. There were certain points where I am confident Wright's conclusions are incorrect and others I need to think about more but that I am pretty sure are incorrect. At other places, he remained sufficiently vague so that I was just unsure precisely what he meant but it threw up some red flags for me. Overall, though, this is a very good and helpful biography of Paul.

Historia
In the post-Christian context, public life has become markedly more secular and private life infinitely more diverse. Yet many Christians still rely on cookie-cutter approaches to evangelism and apologetics. Most of these methods assume that people are open to, interested in, and needy for spiritual insight when increasingly most people are not. The urgent need, then, is the capacity to persuade - to make a convincing case for the Gospel to people who are not interested in it.

EVERY CHRISTIAN SHOULD LISTEN TO THIS
Revisado: 11-27-18
Put this at the top of your list. Os Guinness presents a wealth of wisdom here from many years of deep thinking, broad reading, and fruitful ministry. Be prepared to be challenged and provoked to change and grow.
Note: As a bonus, his style is thoroughly enjoyable and the narrator/reader is excellent.
