Historia
Atticus O’Sullivan, last of the Druids, lives peacefully in Arizona, running an occult bookshop and shape-shifting in his spare time to hunt with his Irish wolfhound. His neighbors and customers think that this handsome, tattooed Irish dude is about twenty-one years old - when in actuality, he’s twenty-one centuries old. Not to mention: He draws his power from the earth, possesses a sharp wit, and wields an even sharper magical sword known as Fragarach, the Answerer. Unfortunately, a very angry Celtic god wants that sword, and he’s hounded Atticus for centuries....

Atticus has become one of my new favorites.
Revisado: 04-01-15
Atticus O' Sullivan has been hiding from Aengus Og, Celtic God of love for 2000 years. But that's all about to change. Aengus has found him and has joined forces with a few new allies to help him get to the fantastical sword Atticus has, Fragarach, the Answerer.
Atticus has his wolfhound Oberon, the Morrigan, Celtic Chooser of the Slain, and he also joins with a couple new allies of his own.
This is a great start to an amazing series. The narrator Luke Daniels did an awesome job bringing the characters to life.
5 stars all around.

Liked the story
Revisado: 03-02-15
First of all, I really liked Bianca. She is a great lead character that is at the brink of life as an adult.
Tristan won't make the top ten of my favorite heroine love interests but, I can understand how a girl could fall for outward charm, abs to die for, and a pretty smile. It has been done before.
The time travel was cleverly written and, my eyes never once glazed over because of a barrage of scientific mumbo jumbo.
The narrator, however, got to me. I thought she had a great voice and tone but the recording desperately needed to be edited before release. There were a number of errors and stumbles that distracted from the story. There were audible places where you tell the recording had been paused and restarted.
Overall, I would listen to the next book. Hopefully there will be a better director over the audio.

Historia
On the alien, sunless planet they call Eden, the 532 members of the Family shelter beneath the light and warmth of the Forest's lantern trees. Beyond the Forest lie the mountains of the Snowy Dark and a cold so bitter and a night so profound that no man has ever crossed it. The Oldest among the Family recount legends of a world where light came from the sky, where men and women made boats that could cross the stars. These ships brought us here, the Oldest say - and the Family must only wait for the travelers to return.

Just Dreadful!
Revisado: 04-11-14
As many of the other reviewers have stated, the repetitive use of words to emphasize meaning is just a bit silly. I understand that the author is attempting to develop a dialect and is using this as a mechanism for that....but it just doesn't work. The incestuous relationships in this book is creepy which we readers are expected to accept as normal.
This book can't seem to decide what its audience should be. Children due to the immature language (cold cold, hot hot, etc) ? Adults due to the uncomfortable sexual situations ? It just did not work.
Finally, I could not get past the first narrator. The heavy, almost cartoonish accent was unbearable. I gave up and returned it to get my credit back. Thank goodness for Audible's return policy. I recommend "Red Rising" instead. It was excellent!

A fun historical/fantasy thriller
Revisado: 08-20-11
While this has tones of the DaVinci Code, it's an original and captivating story line. I flew through this one in a couple of days, even finding quiet things to do at home so I could continue to listen. That said, I do agree with the other reviewers that the main character is a flat, cardboard cutout of a hardened police type. He's a bit of a jerk but the fun and fast moving plot line more than makes up for it. I'm already listening to the second. It's important to listen to this one first.

Historia
Laura Patterson is an American exchange student in Rome who, fed up with being inexpertly groped by her young Italian beaus, decides there's only one sure-fire way to find a sensual man: date a chef. Then she meets Tomasso, who's handsome, young, and cooks in the exclusive Templi restaurant. Perfect. Except, unbeknownst to Laura, Tomasso is in fact only a waiter at Templi; it's his shy friend Bruno who is the chef.

A wandering, lackluster effort at best
Revisado: 02-07-07
I am sure that there will be many who disagree with me but I found this book rather disappointing. Though the Cyrano de Bergerac type plot line has been played out before I had thought the idea behind this book had the potential to be quite funny with just enough romance. However, the characters were cartoonish exaggerations of real people. The Italian playboy, the hopeless romantic, the clueless American tourist…there was no depth in these characters and I often found myself asking “Am I supposed to care?” There are several unnecessary side plots which could be completely eliminated as they add nothing to the book. Also, there was no humor whatsoever! This could have been so funny and endearing but came off a little like euro-trash. The only parts of this book which were vividly written and inciting were the passages about the food. And how much can you listen to someone describing what they are cooking and/or eating? Finally, I am no prude to cursing but it was a bit much as were the sex scenes. They were overdone. I would not recommend.

Great Story, Mediocre Narrator
Revisado: 09-27-05
I really enjoyed the plot of this novel and the characters were delightful. The narrator was pleasant enough until she tried to do Heath's voice and it just sounded silly. It was like a child trying to sound like a grown up.. melodramatic and overdone. Otherwise it was a very enjoyable read even if you typically don't like romance.

Interesting but not riveting
Revisado: 09-23-05
I did listen to the entire book and like some other reviwers, I had figured out "the big secret" about halfway through the book, if not sooner. I did enjoy the story told from the perspective of one of the secondary characters, but Jane Rizoli's voice was annoying and often times grating. Overall, it was a good book with an easy plot to follow but this will not be one I listen to again.

A young adult with wide appeal
Revisado: 04-23-05
I picked up this book not realizing that it was a "young adult" title. After I managed to put away my original skepticism, I truly enjoyed this read. The narrator can be a bit annoying at times and the story is somewhat predictible but it was light hearted and whimsical. I enjoyed the story over all but probably will not be using a credit to purchase the upcoming sequel.

Enjoyable
Revisado: 04-23-05
I am the first to say that I am a long time Koontz reader. I most enjoyed books that he wrote in the 90's and I didn't really enjoy some of his recent works like "The Face" or "The Taking." However, I thoroughly enjoyed this work. It reminded me of "Seize the Night," told in the first person with just the right balance of the realistic and the supernatural. Odd is a funny, sarcastic and completely lovable narrator. This book was perhaps a bit predictable at times, hence the 4 stars instead of 5, but it does save a few twists that you won't see coming. The narrator was pleasant and added his own flavor to the characters. All in all "Odd Thomas" was worth the money.
