A bit boring
Revisado: 02-02-23
I love the video series , but this book just did not land for me. The topics chosen for the book could have been a bit better. I struggled to really care throughout the book.
I look forward to another try in the future.

Historia
Biblical womanhood - the belief that God designed women to be submissive wives, virtuous mothers, and joyful homemakers - pervades North American Christianity. From choices about careers to roles in local churches to relationship dynamics, this belief shapes the everyday lives of evangelical women. Yet biblical womanhood isn't biblical, says Baylor University historian Beth Allison Barr. It was born in a series of clearly definable historical moments.

Historia
Let’s face it. A lot of Christian resources can feel cheesy, out-of-touch, and a little boring. But when Skye Jethani started doodling and writing up some of his thoughts about God, his Twitter and email list blew up. What If Jesus Was Serious? is a compilation of all-new reflections from Skye. He takes a look at some of Jesus’ most demanding teachings in the Sermon on the Mount and pushes us to ask whether we’re really hearing what Christ is saying.

Nothing ever changes in Sanders. The town's still got a video store, for God's sake. So why doesn't Eli Teague want to leave? Not that he'd ever admit it, but maybe he's been waiting - waiting for the traveler to come back. The one who's roared into his life twice before, pausing just long enough to drop tantalizing clues before disappearing in a cloud of gunfire and a squeal of tires. The one who's a walking anachronism, with her tricorne hat, flintlock rifle, and steampunked Model A Ford.

Nice take on a time travel theme
Revisado: 12-13-21
Cool take on time travel. The characters were interesting. And extra points for not making them romantic. The whole "dream" concept was a bit cheesey. But still good.

Historia
Grace is the church's great distinctive. It's the one thing the world cannot duplicate, and the one thing it craves above all else - for only grace can bring hope and transformation to a jaded world. In What's So Amazing About Grace?, award-winning author Philip Yancey explores grace at street level. If grace is God's love for the undeserving, he asks, then what does it look like in action? And if Christians are its sole dispensers, then how are we doing at lavishing grace on a world that knows far more of cruelty and unforgiveness than it does of mercy?

One half good. One half not so good.
Revisado: 10-12-21
The nasa explosion investigation was interesting. But the rest of the book seemed a bit pointless. I think the first half of the book felt a bit pointless. But could be interesting if you liked Feynman's work and want to learn more about his personal life.
I'd recommend the book since it's short, but I'd jump straight to the nasa section.

Historia
A virus has been spreading across America. Chances are you've already been infected without even realizing it. The virus is made up of dangerous ideas - worldviews that don't reflect Jesus and biblical living. According to a recent Barna study, less than one in five practicing Christians has a biblical worldview. Idea viruses - stemming from secularism, Marxism, postmodernism, new spirituality, and Islam - are rampant in our churches today. But don't give up - there is hope!

Too superficial critique
Revisado: 08-16-21
This book was fine. a little disappointed that the critiques of the various world views felt very superficial . And with poor examples it makes it hard to compare and understand when thinking about Christianity.

Historia
Data is fundamental to the modern world. From economic development, to healthcare, to education and public policy, we rely on numbers to allocate resources and make crucial decisions. But because so much data fails to take into account gender, treating men as the default and women as atypical, bias and discrimination are baked into our systems. And women pay tremendous costs for this bias in time, money, and often with their lives. Celebrated feminist advocate Caroline Criado Perez investigates the shocking root cause of gender inequality and research in Invisible Women.

eye opening how much we do not include women
Revisado: 05-31-21
Great, eye opening book about how much we do not include women in making decisions and the data we collect to make those decisions. It's actually very sad and disturbing. It encourages me to ask more questions about how decisions were made and about the data used.
