Historia
When Elizabeth Bennet first knew Mr. Darcy, she despised him and was sure he felt the same. Angered by his pride and reserve, influenced by the lies of the charming Mr. Wickham, she never troubled herself to believe he was anything other than the worst of men - until, one day, he unexpectedly proposed. Mr. Darcy's passionate avowal of love causes Elizabeth to reevaluate everything she thought she knew about him.

No sex just a great story
Revisado: 11-13-13
If you could sum up Unequal Affections in three words, what would they be?
Thoughtful, clever, romantic
Who was your favorite character and why?
Always Darcy. He's noble, gentle, kind and strong. Recognises his faults once pointed out to him.
Which character – as performed by Carmela Corbett – was your favorite?
Elizabeth. Loved the way the reader spoke her character.
If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?
The current title is perfect
Any additional comments?
I have many P and P. Books on audio and this has to be one of if not the best. So easy to listen to and the story similar to the original but with a few twists. The author has written it beautifully, with some lovely language, to compliment Jane Austen's herself. Just hints of physical love and desires.

Historia
What if the last man in the world she could be prevailed upon to marry...is her husband? In Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice, Elizabeth Bennet tells the proud Mr. Fitzwilliam Darcy that she wouldn't marry him if he were the last man in the world. But what if she never said the words? What if circumstances conspired to make her accept Darcy the first time he proposes?

frustratingly 'proper' but romantic and tender too
Revisado: 04-02-13
If you could sum up Mr. Fitzwilliam Darcy in three words, what would they be?
loving
ignorant
romantic
Who was your favorite character and why?
It has to be Darcy because I'm totally besotted with him. He's strong, thoughtful, loving and caring. He's far too 'proper and aloof' at first but then learns he is not the centre of the universe , just slightly off centre, and becomes lovable and appealing.
What about Rachel E. Hurley’s performance did you like?
she has an easy voice to listen to. it's at just the right pitch and her tone and pronounciation is just right.
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
When Elizabeth contemplated suicide i was moved but I also wanted to shake her. That was too selfish for Elizabeth even though she tried to argue she was being selfless.
Devoting her time to Darcy in his illness was also moving as was his amnesia to her attention throughout his illness. Sometimes the good old stiff upper lip is far too frustrating.
Any additional comments?
Easy to read, very enjoyable for all P&P fans who like to read variations in the 'lives' of these wonderful characters.

Historia
Critically acclaimed author Carrie Bebris earned a Daphne du Maurier Award for her lively mysteries starring the fictional creations of Jane Austen. Here, Mr. and Mrs. Darcy investigate a murder in the seaside village of Lyme. While on holiday, the Darcys stumble upon the body of a woman who had been at the center of a local scandal. Was it an accidental death? Or were there more sinister forces at work?

Very ordinary
Revisado: 01-08-13
Would you try another book from Carrie Bebris and/or Leslie Carroll?
Possibly but this was very disappointing. The big draw is Darcy but his character is disappointing, drab and unappealing.
What was most disappointing about Carrie Bebris’s story?
So slow and very little substance.
What three words best describe Leslie Carroll’s voice?
Easy, clear, steady
What character would you cut from The Deception at Lyme: Or, The Peril of Persuasion?
Can't honestly remember. I switched off mentally so many times..
Any additional comments?
Very disappointing. There were some parts that grabbed my interest but they were few and far between.

What was the dream?
Revisado: 11-05-12
Would you listen to Mr Darcy's Dream again? Why?
Yes I would. It's a lovely story but nothing much to do with the Darcy I love. It took me ages to work out why the book was called 'mr Darcy's Dream'. Nevertheless it was light and brilliant told by Phyllida Nash.
Would you be willing to try another book from Elizabeth Aston? Why or why not?
I have read other books by Elizabeth Aston and I love them.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
No I listened to it in bursts whilst driving.
Any additional comments?
The audible books whisk me away to the era of the books. I love all pride and prejudice sequels with few exceptions. This was no exception. Phyllida Nash is just easy on the ear and portrays the characters with aplomb. Love them.
